The delivery date for the Fuji X-Pro2 is set to March 3rd. If this was not a leap year, that would have been in three days. Sadly, we will have to wait for another day before we see it shipped.
If you are considering getting one of those cameras, here is a RAW file right out of a production model that you can edit to experience the Fuji power. (We got a RAW file courtesy of X-shooter Dave Kai Piper and UK model Sam Erised, you can see some edits + the rest of the shoot here).
If you were impressed with Fuji’s performance so far, this one is going to blow you away.
[these photos] were shot on the X-Pro2 using the new X-Trans CMOS III 24mp sensor. As you can tell when you open the images up, they are sharp, crisp and the skin tones are just wonderful. We shot these using the new Arcos film simulation, so you might have to convert them into colour to see the raw raw, if that makes sense. The shoot was always planned to be a monochrome shoot, since the Arcos mode is just perfect at getting the look I need – there is very little editing that will happen to these images.
The OOC Jepgs are stunning, they really are, but since there is not a speed or size worry for me using two 64gig cards, shooting Raw only is fine for my workflow & also lets me have a better file to edit in post pro.
There are many other reasons to go for the x-Pro2 like the hybrid view finder, the 1/8000 sec shutter and the 7×7 Phase Detection AF Area. But for now, just enjoy the huge dynamic range of the RAW file.
This is how the file looks like (almost) out of camera with very little LR tweaking
And this is what it looks like when we reset the sliders and remove the Arcos film simulation.
Here is what you need to do:
- download the new version of Lightroom which has support for Fuji X-Pro2 RAWs)
- download the .raf file here.
- Go and play.
- [optional] post your edit in the comments
Now have a go!
