Still NYC is a Fun Experiment in Flowing Motion

Rather than uploading a set of still photos from his recent visit to New York City, Ynon Lan decided to try something a little different.

Basically he created a short video where each themed segment consists of individual photos captured in different locations, with different backgrounds and changing subjects.

While not groundbreaking, it’s a fun video to watch and one of the more interesting “photo albums” I’ve seen lately. The guys over at Vimeo agree where the video received 50k views in less than a week and was selected as a “Staff Pick”.

If you’ve heard of INSA, chances are you’re thinking of animated walls right now. For those who don’t know him (and you definitely should), INSA is famous for his stop motion GIF-ITI artwork – animated GIFs created from graffiti paintings.

The UK street artist recently created the biggest animated painting for another GIF-ITI project, but with two changes from his ordinary workflow. Rather than painting a wall INSA painted an entire parking lot, and instead of a regular camera he used a satellite to capture his creation!

Inventive Video “Lightspeed” Combines Light Painting With Stop Motion Photography

It starts out a lot like most timelapses, a sweeping landscape, some cool star trails, a trip to a southern California desert and then BA-BAM! An illuminated skeleton pops up out of the ground and takes us on an adventure through the desert as he morphs into a menagerie of animals right before our eyes–no CGI required.

Lightspeed is photographer, Darren Pearson (aka Darius Twin’s), moving creation that combines stop motion photography with his mad light painting skills to create a radiant animation. Lightspeed is the follow up video to his similar stop motion clip, Light Goes On, which you can also watch below, but first, take a look at the artist’s latest work:

We have stated this over and over again, Creativity Trumps Gear. Every time. Of course lacking certain pieces of gear may stop you from doing certain types photo art. But you can create good art with almost as little gear as you have.

See this project from Morgan Spence, AKA Morgspenny Productions, he re-enacted 60 of the all time favorite films in Lego bricks and stop motion. It does take much gear to do this. Just a lot of time and a lot of love. To top it off Morgan is only 15 years old. How’s that for dedication?

Gear is not that fancy either. Morgan uses a Canon 60D, a few desk lamps, and builds the sets on his desk.
