Watch: Cameraman outruns sprinters in a race

Sports photography and videography have their challenges and requirements. But has it ever occurred to you that one of them is running fast? South China Morning Post recently shared a video showing a cameraman running along with sprinters in a 100m race, all the while holding a camera on a gimbal.

Sport photographer Anthony Causi dies of coronavirus at 48

Sport photographer Anthony Causi died this Sunday at North Shore University Hospital in New York. Causi was a longtime associate of the New York Post, much appreciated among his colleagues. According to the official report, he died from the coronavirus at the age of 48.

A yesterday’s college football game between the Georgia Bulldogs and Auburn Tigers proved dangerous for a photographer on the sideline. Following a short pass, a Georgia player slammed into her and immediately knocked her unconscious.

Incidents happen in sport and sometimes, sports photographers get accidentally involved in them as well. But apparently, some sports players will rage out on photographers even though they did nothing wrong. Football player Mario Balotelli recently got angry over a referee’s decision. So, he took his anger out on a nearby tripod, smashing a photographer’s camera.

Incidents happen in sports, both small and big ones. As photographers, we may sometimes get involved in them as well. This is what happened to photographer Shelley Lipton at a recent NFL game. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson smashed into her at full speed, and a video of him helping her out and hugging her after the incident quickly went viral.

When photographing sports, you always have to be ready to catch the perfect moment with your camera. And judging from the Tuesday night ceremonial first pitch, you also have to be ready to catch the ball with your camera, quite literally. This is what happened to photographer Darren Georgia, whose camera got the direct hit from “the worst first pitch ever.”

With so many ways to be creative in photography, I get really excited with many ideas for a photograph. One area I find very interested is sports action photography, but with a twist. It’s great to capture that split-second moment and have that frame frozen, but I wanted to explore capturing the motion and freezing the action all in one go. Above you can watch the video of me using this technique with some karate students.

Female Iranian photographer banned from stadium, climbs a rooftop to photograph a soccer game

In Iran, women are banned from attending soccer games. But a 26-year-old photographer Parisa Pourtaherian didn’t let it stop her. During a match in Vatani stadium in Ghaemshahr, she climbed a nearby rooftop and photographed the game with a telephoto lens. And by doing this, she became the first woman Iran to cover a national league game.

At the FIFA 2018 World Cup semifinal, the match between England and Croatia ended up with Croatia winning. While celebrating the winning goal, Croatian soccer players crashed into the AFP photojournalist Yuri Cortez. But the photographer kept his cool, kept on shooting, and ended up with some great shots.
