Sigma has scheduled a Sigma Stage Online event on their YouTube channel for Thursday, September 9th at 9pm JST. That’s 1pm in the UK, 8am Eastern and 5pm Pacific US. As usual, Sigma hasn’t stated what they’re going to be announcing, but it’s expected to be the upcoming 90mm f/2.8 and 24mm f/2 DG DN mirrorless lenses.

Not surprisingly, some details for both lenses have been leaked by Nokishita. Both lenses are DG DN Contemporary lenses designed specifically for mirrorless camera systems. For Sigma, that means Leica L and Sony E mounts for now. Both are expected to come with a price tag of $669 each.

As well as the above tweet, which translates out to “Sigma’s “90mm F2.8 DG DN | Contemporary” and “24mm F2 DG DN | Contemporary” (L mount / Sony E mount) have just been added to overseas retailers. Both are $ 669.”, some other more specific details of each lens have also been leaked, including the optical makeup, dimensions, weight and filter diameter.ff

Sigma 24mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary

  • Optics: 13 elements in 11 groups
  • Aperture: 9 diaphragm blades (circular)
  • Minimum focus distance: 24.5cm
  • Max magnification: 1:6.7
  • Filter diameter: 62mm
  • Dimensions: φ70x72mm
  • Weight: 365g

Sigma 90mm f/2.8 DG DN Contemporary

  • Optics: 11 elements in 10 groups
  • Aperture: 9 diaphragm blades (circular)
  • Minimum focus distance: 0.5m
  • Max magnification 1: 5
  • Filter diameter: 55mm
  • Dimensions: φ64×59.7mm
  • Weight: 295g

As contemporary lenses, they’re fairly well priced, coming in at an expected $669 each. Sure, it’s not super low budget, but it’s not an unreasonable number, either. And, well, if you shoot L mount your options for alternatives are somewhat limited. The lenses will also be available for Sony E mount.

There’s no word yet as to when we might start seeing Sigma’s DG DN mirrorless lenses come to other mirrorless camera systems, like Nikon Z and Canon RF, although Sigma says they want to release some. But, it looks like that hasn’t come to fruition quite yet. Nor has the full-frame Foveon.
