Panasonic has just announced Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6, a zoom lens designed for full frame L-mount cameras. With it zoom range and close focusing distance it will have you covered in all sorts of shooting situations. And with its relatively low price, it could be a perfect choice as the first lens you’ll ever buy.

The Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 is designed for full-frame cameras, but of course, you can also use it with APS-C models. In this case it will provide a 30-90mm equivalent focal length range.

When it comes to the build, the lens contains two aspherical elements and one ultra-high refractive index (UHR) element. This should help to minimize distortions and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range. There are also three extra-low dispersion elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing. It packs a rounded nine-blade diaphragm for smooth, round bokeh.

The Panasonic Lumix S 20-60mm f/3.5-5.6 is an autofocus lens with a stepping AF motor. Panasonic promises quick and quiet focusing performance, so it should be suitable for both photo and video. Maximum magnification is 0.43x and a minimum focusing distance of is 5.9″, which lets you shoot up close. Finally, the lens is splash, dust, and freeze-proof, with working temperature going down to 14°F (-10°C.)
