Vanity Fair has recently published their annual Hollywood issue. The photo taken by Annie Leibovitz features some amazing stars, such as Robert De Niro, Tom Hanks, and Harrison Ford. However, the photo caused reactions on Twitter not because of the superstars – but because of their “extra limbs.” Thanks to Photoshop fail and unfortunate position of the dress, Reese Witherspoon got an extra leg, and Oprah Winfrey got an additional hand.

A Twitter user space wifey tweeted a Vanity Fair photo, wondering how many legs Reese Witherspoon had in it. It sure looks like she has three of them, right?
im tryna figure out how many legs reese witherspoon’s got in here, it’s been bothering me for the last five minutes pic.twitter.com/u1uQ63sDdd

The tweet sparked some comments among the community, speculating whether it’s a Photoshop mistake or just an optical illusion created by the lining of her dress. And while the people were wondering what might be the case, Witherspoon took it with a great sense of humor and tweeted: “Well…I guess everybody knows now…I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am.”
Well…I guess everybody knows now…I have 3 legs. I hope you can still accept me for who I am. ?( and I will never apologize for snuggling @Oprah .. if you get the opportunity, I highly recommend it;) https://t.co/6GyrfWxNSY

While people were discussing Witherspoon’s “three legs,” someone pointed out that she’s not the only one in the photo who has an extra limb. Oprah ended up with a third hand, hugging Witherspoon around her waist:

While it’s not certain whether Photoshop or dress lining caused Witherspoon’s third leg, there’s no doubt that Oprah’s third hand is a Photoshop fail. I also like how Tom Hanks’ facial expression fits the photo in which Oprah has three hands. Still, the famous host also reacted with humor and replied to Witherspoon’s tweet: “I accept your 3d leg. As I know you accept my 3d hand.”
I accept your 3d leg. As I know you accept my 3d hand??????❤️

I just love it how everyone involved made a joke out of this fail. It’s how I like to take fails in life – with humor. Vanity Fair also reacted in the same fashion. They solved the mystery of the third leg by explaining it’s the lining of the dress after all. As for Oprah’s third hand, they wrote: “how can we expect her to juggle it all with just two hands?” and added that they are correcting this error online.
While we would have loved the exclusive on @RWitherspoon's three legs, unfortunately it's just the lining of her dress. https://t.co/HJjvbc037S

After Vanity Fair tweeted this, many users reacted by replying that “dress lining” is just an excuse for a Photoshop fail. To me, though, it looked like the dress lining at the first sight. After closer inspection, I must admit I’m not sure anymore. As for Oprah’s third hand, there’s, of course, absolutely no doubt it’s a Photoshop fail, and a pretty big one.
I don’t judge Vanity Fair for publishing photoshopped images because most magazines do it and it’s expected. However, I am surprised they made such big mistakes and didn’t notice anything awkward in the final photos. And since there are extra limbs in the shot, I can’t help but wonder to which extent exactly the photos were manipulated.
