Adobe has announced they’re teaming up with Google for their latest image model, Gemini 3 (also known as Nano Banana Pro). You can start exploring it now in Adobe Firefly and Photoshop.
Adobe is allowing unlimited generations in Adobe Firefly and all its partner models, including Nano Banana Pro, for a limited time. If you subscribe to Creative Cloud Pro or the Firefly plan, you can take advantage of this until December 1. It’s an excellent opportunity to explore all the creative ideas you’ve had.
If you’re like me, you might be overwhelmed with the many AI models available. It seems like there’s always a new one appearing. However, this partnership with Nano Banana Pro stands out, and here’s why it matters.
Why Nano Banana Pro is the Pro-Grade Tool You Need to Test
Remember the buzz when Google launched its previous model, Nano Banana? Adobe reported that users created an impressive 5 billion images with it in just two months, highlighting how much we, as creators, depend on these tools.
Now, Google is saying that this new Pro version offers “significant improvements in editing quality.” This phrase is common, but what does it really mean for the images you create?
First, Google claims unlimited generations in Adobe Firefly allows you to use text prompts to focus on specific areas of an image. For instance, if you have a beautiful picture but one part has poor lighting, Nano Banana Pro lets you fix just that spot with a simple prompt. This could make your workflow much easier, reducing the need for manual adjustments.
Additionally, Google says that you can now refine messy AI-generated text in images. Nano Banana Pro is reportedly good at producing clear and well-integrated text. If you’ve ever tried to get an AI to create a poster and ended up with nonsense, you’ll see how this could be a breakthrough. Moreover, Google claims it can also localize text, meaning it can translate writing in images. This is huge for international projects, as it allows you to create ads in languages such as French or German easily.
One of the most ambitious, yet somewhat doubtful, claims is that Nano Banana Pro can produce factually accurate visuals by tapping into Google Search’s vast knowledge base. If this works as promised, you could request something specific, such as a 1980s Soviet refrigerator or a rare plant, and the model should be able to provide you with accurate details. It appears that Google is aiming to strike a balance between creativity and accuracy, which is a challenging task. You’ll want to see how reliable that “factually accurate” claim is when you start generating images.
Choice is King: Adobe’s AI Partner Model Strategy
When you step back and look at the whole picture, this integration is really about Adobe’s overall approach rather than just one tool. Nano Banana Pro is part of a fantastic collection of models available in their apps, which already includes various options from companies like Black Forest Labs, ElevenLabs, Ideogram, and OpenAI.
Hannah Elsakr, Adobe’s VP of New GenAI Business Ventures, says, “With Google’s Nano Banana Pro now in Adobe Firefly and Photoshop, we’re giving creators and creative professionals yet another best-in-class image model they can tap into alongside Adobe’s powerful editing tools to turn ideas into high-impact content with full creative control. It’s an exciting step in our partnership with Google to help everyone create with AI.”
It appears Adobe is paying attention to what creators want. They’ve surveyed over 16,000 creators and found that more than 60% of them use various AI models to find the best tool for each task. We all know the struggle: one model is perfect for realistic images, while another shines in stylized art. You shouldn’t have to manage multiple subscriptions and complicated workflows to get your work done.
With Adobe, you gain choice and flexibility within the apps you already use. You won’t need to chase after new model releases or deal with scattered workflows anymore. They aim to be your go-to place where you can pick the best AI for your needs, whether that’s their new Firefly Image Model 5 or Google’s latest offering.
Where You Can Use the New Gemini 3 Power Now
Adobe has made it available at essential points in the creative process.
Generative Fill Just Got Smarter in Photoshop
If you work with Photoshop, you’ll be pleased to hear that Nano Banana Pro is the latest feature enhancement for Generative Fill. This combines speed with high-quality results. You can now quickly make edits and create realistic content with many creative options.
This new feature builds on Google’s earlier Nano Banana and Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.1 Kontext [pro], giving you more choices. It really simplifies your professional workflow. You can easily shift from quick generative tests to fine-tuning your results using Photoshop’s familiar layers, masks, and selections. You gain precise control over your work right after generating it, which is essential for any professional.
Firefly Boards: Concepting and Moodboarding at Warp Speed
Adobe Firefly, referred to as an all-in-one creative AI studio, is another key platform for Nano Banana Pro. You can certainly use its standard Text to Image feature.
However, the most exciting feature may be Firefly Boards. If you’re in the creative field, working on campaign ideas and getting feedback from clients, Firefly Boards will be an excellent tool for you. You can upload up to six reference images, texts, icons, or mood shots and then let Nano Banana Pro combine and visualize them into a single image. Even better, you can have it demonstrate the concept in a real-world setting, such as a billboard on a busy New York City street. This way, you get quick, high-quality visuals for your clients without wasting time on mockups. That’s not just impressive. It’s a huge time-saver that could really enhance how you present your ideas.
Get Skeptical, Get Creating
The promise of improved resolution, enhanced text generation, and accurate visuals is significant in unlimited generations in Adobe Firefly. I believe these new features could really help you develop your creative ideas more than ever. However, don’t forget to stay excited but also a bit cautious.
We’ve all encountered models that claim to do amazing things but fall short. It’s your job to really test Nano Banana Pro. Experiment with challenging prompts, check if they produce clear text, and see if you can adjust lighting and camera angles with ease.
The great thing is you won’t have to spend extra to find out, at least not immediately.
