Lumu Labs has started a Kickstarter campaign for their newest light meter!
Anyone who uses a light meter knows they are a very important piece of gear. The current offering by Lumu Labs is great because the tiny form factor allowed me to carry the meter in my pocket and than plug into my iPhone. You don’t have to carry around a full light meter which takes up space in the bag.

I remember chatting with Benjamin Von Wong on Facebook one day, and him inviting me to this Facebook group that would involve his next adventure. Months later, this story came across my desk and I had to jump on it and made sure I got to share it with all of you! If you are unfamiliar with Von Wong’s work I suggest you take a look at his site after you read about this project. What happens when you take creative minds like Benjamin Von Wong and Kelly DeLay, plus a crew of talented storm chasers, photographers, and a community of friends and fans, and send them out into the midwestern United States into some very strong storms?
Come out of that storm cellar and take a look at the imagery and the story behind it!
Simon Schaffrath, a photographer from Germany, and his wife decided they wanted to do some pictures for the announcement of their first baby!
They plan on naming him “Theodor” and I absolutely love and appreciate the creativity that Simon put into each and every photo! Painting the scenery on his wife’s body using non toxic materials and the style of photography Simon used really creates a scene that seems to lay out a recommended life plan for the little guy!

NASA just released the images that were taken from the Apollo mission. Project Apollo Archive took on the tedious job of putting the magazines into a flickr account! There are thousands of images to look through and each one is interesting.
The author of the flickr account stated that the best way to view is in the “Album” view. I have looked through some of the galleries and picked out a few favorites! Check these out after the jump! (no pun intended)
Today Tiffen announced that the Lowel Pro Power LED is now available for purchase (at $600). Tiffen says that its perfect for the photographer with on-the-go shooting and small location setups. I am constantly on-the-go and lugging around studio lights gets to be a bit cumbersome. Lets see what they have done to make this setup different.

Professional photographers get asked all the time, “what is it like to be a professional photographer?” Sure there are things we can say, and things we can try to visualize for them to really see what we get to experience as a photographer.
Jansen A Nowell, a high school junior, took his answer a bit further with a couple GoPros and a broomstick!
When I go through my gear bag and I pick out a lens I get visions that flash through my head. What if it snags on the bag? What if I drop it as I put it onto the mount of the body? Will I pass out if it hits the ground?
I have always known Zeiss lenses to be built very well. I did not know what kind of testing they go through before they leave the factory. We get to watch examples of the tests a lens goes through in this video from the Carl Zeiss Group.
I will warn you that the first thing that happens… ok I can’t. Just watch the video, it’s a great look into what these lenses go through. Let’s just say that Zeiss feels confident enough to make the following statement: “A device that doesn’t work is like not having it all”.
Photographer and parkour athlete Jason Paul has created a stunning collection of images with his “Man & Mortar” project. The images are inspired by the poses of ancient statues and monuments while using London as its canvas.
Jason Paul photographed a fellow parkour athlete and World Champion Free Runner Tim Shieff. In his review of the project, Jason states:
Vela Labs developed an LED flash with speeds of up to 1 /2,000,000 of a second – the Vela One. This means that the Vela One is fast enough to stop a bullet in flight.
Vela Labs CEO, Matt Kane, told us that such a fast speed is obtained by using ultra-high flux COB LEDs, and overdriving them. My first question was how exactly can you push an LED so brutally and not damage it. Matt explained that the massive currents are delivered in very short pulses and do not damage or shorten the life of the unit.
WSJ reports that there are going to be some changes to the laws concerning drones that could have serious impact on photographers and videographers.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art.
