Instagram post scheduling. For businesses now, for everyone in 2019

Scheduling Instagram posts has been the feature millions of users wanted to see. Well, you asked for it, and here it is – Instagram is finally allowing post scheduling. The feature is already unrolled for business users, but those of you who have personal accounts will have to wait some more until it’s available for everyone.

So far, it was only possible to schedule Instagram posts by using third-party apps like Later.com. Now Hootsuite has teamed up with Instagram to bring the post-scheduling directly to the app. Hootsuite CEO Ryan Holmes says that this has been “the number one request” of their customers. However, for now, the feature is only available to those who use business accounts.

The latest update was introduced today as a part of Instagram’s API rebuild. It’s aimed to help businesses better manage their organic presence on Instagram. Even though the feature is not available for the non-business profiles yet, Instagram developers are planning to introduce it to them as well. According to the announcement, non-business users will be able to schedule posts starting from early 2019.

I don’t use Instagram for promotion, but generally speaking, post scheduling is a great feature. It will surely be useful for everyone who promotes their photography or small business on Instagram through regular accounts. However, this takes away from the main concept of the network – being “here and now” and sharing this particular moment in real time. Still, I think Instagram has lost (or broaden) its primary concept a long time ago, so they are at least giving the users what they wanted.
