Pergear’s $69 10mm f/5.6 II Pancake Fisheye Is the Cheapest Ways to Go Ultra-Wide

Pergear has launched the updated 10mm f/5.6 II pancake fisheye lens for APS-C camera. At $69, it’s a fully metal, ultra-compact fisheye ideal to step into the ultra-wide realm. It’s available across six mirrorless mounts, and it could be an ideal choice if you want to add something new and fun to your kit.
The 172° angle of view puts the Pergear 10mm f/5.6 II in fisheye territory rather than just “wide.” You’re getting distortion and exaggeration of perspective, the kind of look that works beautifully for skate photography, architecture abstractions, concert photography, or even adding a surreal edge to portraits. The 15cm minimum focus distance is particularly useful here, letting you get close and really lean into the warped geometry that makes fisheyes so fun.
As for the physical build, the lens features all-metal construction and still weighs just 120g. It’s 50mm wide and 32mm deep, which makes it almost disappear on a small mirrorless body. The built-in petal hood is a nice touch too, both for flare control and protecting the front element.

On the minus side is the fixed f/5.6 aperture. It’s not particularly bright in low light, and you also can’t stop it down. I’m not a fan of not being able to control the aperture, considering that it affects more than just the amount of light hitting the sensor. On a lens this wide, though, I don’t think you’d see much difference when it comes to bokeh.
Speaking of limitations, the Pergear 10mm f/5.6 II is fully manual. This means focus, exposure, everything – and it won’t communicate with your camera body at all, so you’ll need to enable “Shoot without lens” in your settings before it’ll fire. It’s not a dealbreaker for the right shooter, but definitely worth knowing upfront.
For M4/3 shooters, the 20mm equivalent makes this a little less dramatic than on APS-C bodies, where the 15mm equivalent keeps things properly wide. Despite limitations, at this price point, it’s still a creative tool to add to your gear bag. For anyone experimenting with fisheye for the first time, the $69 entry cost makes it an easy risk to take.
