I wish I could use EPIC in the title, but we have been getting some comments that the ‘E’ word is being overused. That said, this time lapse really is an amazing piece of work.
Made by 3motion this timelapse took over 3 years to complete and in the course of it the team traveled over 30,000 kilometers, producing over 100,000 individual photos. Quite a journey.
The full movie includes an impressive list of locations, each posing a different production challenge and displaying a different theme. Nature is very different from industrial which in turn is different from stars shooting and so. In this one, you get them all. In 4K.
Here is a quick list:

National Parks: Yosemite, Yellowstone, Olympic, Banff, Kings Canyon, Sequoia, Acadia, Rocky Mountains, Mesa Verde, Arches, Mount Rainier, Mount Revelstoke and Zion?
City Scapes: Seattle bay, golden gate bridge, Los Angeles, Vancouver, St. Louis, San Francisco, Las Vegas at night, Mount Rushmore NM, New Orleans, Toronto (from top of the CN Tower), Boston, Calgary, Springdale, Three Rivers, Pagosa Springs, Swift Current.
Locations of Interest: Griffith Observatory, Empire State Building, One World Trade Center during construction, Manhattan, Tongue Point
Nature: Niagara Falls, Lake Palourde, Keene Lake, Horseshoe Bend, White Mountains, Hobson CP and the Mississippi River.
Others: Alberta, Arizona, Arkansas, British Columbia, California and Colorado, Illinois, Louisiana, New Hampshire, New York, Nevada, Massachusetts and Maine, Missouri, Ontario, Oregon, Saskatchewan, South Dakota, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.
As many other great timelapses there is some gear involved, but not something that will break your bank: 5D MK II and 5D MK III for cameras and a set of lenses: Canon EF 24-70mm 2.8, 24-70 2.8 II, 100mm 2.8 macro and 70-200mm 2.8 II and the Samyang 14mm 2.8. movement was achieved with an Emotimo head and a dynamic perception platform.
Now you can watch the movie before the jump in HD, of this one below in 4K:

This is cool. Now I just need a 4k display to watch it.
“Not something that will break your bank”. Are you serious?!?

Canon 5D Mark III: $2500
Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L II: $1800
Canon EF 100mm f/2.8 Macro: $550
Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS I: $2000

This is all relative of course. I am not saying that $8K is pocket change but relative to what such a movie would have cost to make only 15 years ago this is pretty affordable.
You know this would make a great global photo community project, maybe hook up a public google drive, this could be pretty doable.
And just in case its not clear I’m talking about an international photo project where photographers from cities and countries around the world could submit photos according to directions to produce the right result.
Title is inaccurate, North america is more than just USA and Canada…Great video but, I wanted to see the other countries too…that would’ve been a more interesting project because of all the differences…
