sony-onlineVisitors to the Sony website (perhaps looking to pre-order an A7R II), were greeted with notice announcing the popular electronics manufacturer plan to cease taking orders via their online store beginning on August 28th. The banner (see above photo) simply says, “…Sony will have an exciting new product website that includes our authorized retailers for your purchase preference…”. Once clicked on, the announcement takes you to a FAQ page, which explains that all purchases made on the site through August 28th will be fulfilled–backorded items possibly excluded.

Early this year, Sony made headlines when it announced it would be closing the majority of their retail stores. Unfortunately for us consumers, unlike the retail store closings, there has been no announcement of any type of clearance sale, nor is there expected to be one.
