The Comedy Wildlife Awards 2024 finalists show the bright side of (wild)life

Get ready to chuckle while admiring the incredible world of wildlife: The Comedy Wildlife Awards has just announced its finalists for 2024! As always, the entries are nothing short of hilarious and heartwarming, showing the bright side of (wild)life.

From a cheetah playing hide-and-seek to a fish chasing an eagle across the sky, these photos capture the most unexpected and amusing moments in the animal kingdom. This year’s competition received a record number of entries from 98 countries, showcasing the creativity and talent of photographers worldwide.

Do you know what it means when the finalists are out? This means that voting for the People’s Choice Award, sponsored by Affinity Photo, is now open. It allows you to vote for your favorite funny photo from the Finalists and enter a free prize draw to win £500. The voting closes on October 31, 2024, so make sure to cast your vote before Halloween.

Caring about conservation

Like every year, the Comedy Wildlife isn’t just about the laughs. The Awards also aims to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. By sharing these humorous photos, the competition hopes to inspire people to appreciate and protect our planet’s diverse ecosystems.

Each year the competition supports a sustainable conservation organization and, once again, Comedy Wildlife team up with Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN). This UK charity supports conservation leaders working in their home countries across the Global South.

“What an incredible year this has been, ” said Tom Sullam, one of the contest co-founders “Nikon have taken up the flame and been fantastic partners this year, which has proved invaluable in attracting some of the world’s best photographers.”

“Furthermore, we have hit our tenth year of competition, and the entries, support and laughs just keep going up. It’s a privilege to be part of this exciting journey, making us all laugh and raising our awareness of animal conservation.  We can’t wait to announce the winners!!”

Speaking of the winners, I can’t wait for them to get announced, either. It will happen on December 10 at an awards night in London. After that, there will be an exhibition from December 10 to 16 showcasing all the 2024 Award Finalists at the Gallery@Oxo.
