The Mamiya Hero 3+ Is a Gopro Hero Retrofitted in a Mamiya Ruby

Flickr user Hannu Ilkka was one of the few who were not excited by the new GoPro Hero4 announcement. In fact Hannu is more of a retro camera kind of photographer.
I guess this could be the only reason why Hannu retrofitted a GoPro Hero 3+ inside a 35mm Mamiya Ruby. Using a set of levers and studs, Hannu jas the Mamia buttons control the start/stop, wifi and selection buttons of the GoPro, and a small window int the Mamia body allows peeking into the gopro LCD.
Of course this may be taken as Blasphemy both by action camera lovers and by mamia fans, but there is no denying that the Mamiya Hero3+ looks much more stylish hipsterish than the regular GoPro.

Yes, there was definitely some dremal action involved.

P.S. this may not come as a surprise since Hannu retrofitted a GoPro2 into a Canonet 28 last year.

You can see the full conversion set here.

It’s the Gopro Hipster.
Ok, I’m driving to an antique store today!! Very clever DIY!
Putting a small box inside a bulkier box….. Wow….Impressive.
I think this is to make it look like you are carrying a camera while you record. make it less conscipcious. People in my country don’t react well to people filming them. Hell I think a lot of people don’t react well to being filmed.
