Canon Rumored To Be Adding A 46MP Body To Their Pro DSLR Lineup Next Month

Rumors are spreading like wildfire over the internet of the possibility that Canon is planning a surprise announcement of a pro DSLR during PhotoPlus, which takes place in New York City. The excitement comes after a longtime member of the forums on FredMiranda.com made a concise post declaring “…Canon will release a 46mp pro body at the Javits Center in October.” Later on in the thread, he noted the DSLR will come at a price point somewhere between $8000 and $9000.
Typically this kind of post would never see the light of day, as it would be written off as a troll almost immediately. However, the fact the rumor comes from such a trusted source in the FredMiranda community (he’s been an active member since 2006), quite a few folks are paying attention to his claim.
Whether the rumor is true or not will remain to be seen, but that’s not stopping a lot of us from daydreaming about all the other features the (possibly) new camera will offer. What features and functions would you like to see in Canon’s next pro DSLR? Let us know in the comments section below!

meh.
Rivaling the @NikonUSA own #D800 huh? Necessarily, more megapixels won’t make a better photo than most, but still useable.

the megapixel race is over…
Well, not in the product photography industry.
Hassleblad won.
yes they would do something stupid like that, wouldn’t they. I wonder how it will stop their 5D users from bleeding to Nikon and EosM users from bleeding to Fuji, but hey, who cares
Will will still have the gear head forum users bitching about dynamic range and that they can pull X amount of stops from a poorly exposed image and that Canon never changed the DR. It’s dumb because Canon already has 12 stops of DR and 14 for Nikon. If you can’t shoot within 2 stops, you need a point and shoot.
4K video. Better low light performance.
NOT LIKELY ! The Nikon uses a physically cut down version of the Sony sensor found in Hasselblad, Phase One, Mamiya & Pentax MF cameras, basically the largest sensor they could possible get into a 135 format without any major compromise… 46mp sounds like a doubling of the current Canon technology – if these rumours reported 40mp I might believe it…
But what we need is lenses which can deliver the necessary image quality of a 46Mp sensor. Will they have a set of lenses which can deliver?
Well i might need some extra HDD…
I need a 10~12MP FF DSLR with s-log algorithm.
