The coronavirus has stopped us in our tracks and prevented us from traveling, exploring, and taking photos at new places. But hey, this is our chance to rediscover our own city, neighborhood, even our own backyard. International Garden Photographer of the Year (IGPOTY) 2020 winners will inspire you to get out and find all the hidden beauty of your own backyard.

International Garden Photographer of the Year specializes in garden, plant, flower and botanical photography. It’s owned and organized by Mirror Plate Media Ltd. and run in association with the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, London.

The main exhibition is held annually at Kew, with a rolling program of touring exhibitions in the UK and all over the world. However, it looks like you’ll only be able to see this year’s winners online, for apparent reasons. There is also a limited edition hardback book of the exhibition, which is normally produced each year.

Like every year, this year’s winners are amateurs and professionals alike, coming from all over the world. The competition as a whole attracts over 20,000 entries each year. You can check out this year’s winners below. And then, take your camera, go outside, and rediscover the beauty of your own surroundings! After that, you can also submit your own photos for the International Garden Photographer of the Year.
