Team Group has just announced its newest T-CREATE EXPERT SDXC UHS-II V90 SD card, and it’s turning heads for a simple reason: it’s the first V90 card to hit 2TB. For professional photographers and filmmakers, this could be a game-changer. But is it all it’s cracked up to be?
Big Capacity Meets Big Speed
With blazing read speeds of up to 300MB/s and write speeds of 260MB/s, this card is clearly designed for those shooting 8K video, high-res RAW files, or anything else that eats up storage. Team Group promises seamless performance with cinema cameras, mirrorless systems, and DSLRs—especially in demanding setups. For instance, with a Canon EOS C400, you could record over two hours of 6K footage at 59.94p.
But the T-CREATE EXPERT isn’t just about numbers. It’s built to survive tough conditions, boasting an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance and protection against shocks, vibrations, X-rays, and extreme temperatures. And if something does go wrong? Team Group’s included data recovery service has your back.
Who is Team Group?
Team Group is probably a name that many photographers and filmmakers may not be familiar with. Based in China, the company generally targets gamers and general users in the USA with RAM and SSDs. In Europe, the company’s focus is more on industrial and enterprise clients.
This latest release clearly shows they’re now targeting high-end photographers and filmmakers. And they’re doing it with a bang, too. They’ve beaten all of the big names like SanDisk, Lexar, and OWC in announcing the world’s first 2TB UHS-II SD card.
Is It Worth It?
This launch comes hot on the heels of SanDisk’s 2TB Extreme Pro UHS-I card ($299.99), which dropped in November 2024. While SanDisk’s offering was impressive, it targeted a broader audience with its UHS-I standard, catering more to everyday creators and enthusiasts. The T-CREATE EXPERT, however, ups the ante with V90 certification, making it a clear choice for professionals who can’t afford dropped frames or slow writes.
Team Group extols the virtues of the card’s speed and capacity in its press release. They state that when used with the Canon EOS C400 ($7,995), it’s able to record 6K 59.94P footage at its highest quality for up to two hours and eight minutes.
While the idea of 2TB in your camera bag is undeniably exciting, the reality is that cards like this are niche. Not everyone needs this much storage—or the premium price tag it’ll likely come with. Still, for those who do, Team Group’s card could become the new gold standard.
Price and Availability
At the moment, the company has not yet released pricing or availability information for the new 2TB T-CREATE EXPERT SDXC UHS-II V90 cards. The company lists a number of retailers around the world, but none of them have a listing up for this one yet. We’ll update this post as soon as we have more information.
