Just when you thought that Slider+ was as awesome as it can get with regards to sliders, comes the Wing.
The wind is a slider, that does not actually look like a slider, it looks more like an articulated robotic arm. The smooth sliding motion is not achieved via moving on rails like traditional slider, but rather via a set of gears that keep the “palm” of the robot leveled while the joint moves up and down.
In case life took over and you haven’t been aggressively checking up on what’s new in the photography world every day, you probably missed quite a few big announcements this week. The NAB Show just wrapped up its run for 2014, and this past week has been an absolute roller coaster for tech media. Here’s a round-up of the show just so you can be caught up with what’s been happening.
AJA is one of the most respected names in the video production business, and their presence at the NAB Show was bound to bring about high expectations. With the announcement of their newest video camera, it looks like they intend to deliver. At their keynote presentation, alongside a variety of mid and high-range products, AJA introduced the Cion.
Amidst all the noise generated by the NAB Show in the past two days already – with 4K Cameras making the headlines on every photography blog out there, or with companies like Blackmagic flooring audiences with how much they’re evolving the technology of cinema – There’s quite a few cool announcements that get lost in the middle. One of them is from Digital Bolex, and it’s a monochrome camera (based off the original D16) called the D16M.
This is pretty unexpected, but it looks like DJI is starting to expand its range of products. If you’ve seen previous articles I’ve written, you’ll know how much I geek out over the DJI Phantom line. The Phantoms are what the company is primarily known for: high-altitude camera drones. And now they’re announcing their newest addition to the company’s line of products: a handheld stabilizer called the Ronin.
Adobe just released the much anticipated Lightroom mobile App. If you are an on the go creative, this is probably one of the things you wanted to see most coming out of adobe and finally a solid reason to move into the Adobe Creative Cloud.
The application enables synching photos between an iPad (or iPhone, no world on Android devices yet) and your desktop application via the cloud. but…. it also enables editing and tagging photos while making sure everything is in sync.
They’re calling it the world’s first user-upgradable 4K digital film camera: Blackmagic’s URSA has been announced and it may take you by quite a bit of surprise. I want to get something out of the way first: These are meant for high-end feature films and documentaries, and the two URSA models announced today are going to be shipping in July at prices of $6,000 and $6,500.

DJI Phantom quadcopters are drones that take videos and photos from up in the air, like any basic helicopter shot you’ll see in movies. They’re effective, durable, and stay where they need to stay even if the wind is against them. And now the company is announcing their newest addition to the line: the Phantom Vision 2+.
At their NAB Show today, Sony made certain that ‘4K’ would be their hot word for audiences to catch on to. It’s what came up on the screen as the live stream even began, and continued to be spoken about for its presence in medicine, business, filmmaking, and consumer use. Sony made sure that 4k touched every single topic they covered. One of those topics was the company’s announcement of the full frame Sony A7S, a camera introduced at the end of the segment that we’ve been anticipating for a while now.

The entire system is designed to be travel friendly, and fits in the back of a car.

As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.
Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
