Aftershoot’s New Tool Turns Your Lightroom Presets Into AI Profiles in Under a Minute

If you’ve ever wished your Lightroom presets could be just a little smarter, like adapting to different lighting, camera bodies, or scenes without you constantly tweaking sliders, then Aftershoot’s latest update might be worth a look.

The software company has announced Instant AI Profiles, a new tool designed to bridge the gap between using static Lightroom presets and a fully personalised, adaptive AI editing system. The core promise is simple: upload your favourite preset, and in less than 60 seconds, you’ll have an AI-powered version of it that can intelligently adapt to each individual image.

For many photographers, creating a “Professional AI Profile” has a high barrier to entry, typically requiring a Lightroom catalogue with thousands of consistently edited images to train the AI. This new feature offers a starting point for those who have a defined style through their presets but lack the massive dataset.

How Does It Work?

Setting up an Instant AI Profile is pretty simple:

  1. Upload your Lightroom preset (.xmp file).
  2. Go through a quick three-step visual guide to fine-tune exposure, white balance, and tint.
  3. Hit Generate Profile, and you’re ready to go.

From there, you can apply your Instant AI Profile across full galleries, getting a more consistent look without the manual corrections that presets usually demand.

The key difference between this and a standard preset is adaptability. Instead of applying the exact same adjustments to every photo, which often requires you to move sliders afterwards manually, the resulting AI Profile analyses each image’s unique context, like lighting conditions, camera model, and scene content, and applies your style accordingly. The goal is to deliver more consistent, tailored results from the start with less manual correction.

An entry point into AI editing

The Instant AI Profiles aren’t meant to be a replacement for their Professional AI Profiles (which still offer more precision once you have enough edited images to train the system). Instead, they’re a way to get started with AI-powered editing right away, with the option to upgrade as your library grows. Aftershoot says that you can start with an Instant AI Profile and then later seamlessly upgrade to a more precise Professional AI Profile once you’ve edited more photos and built a larger library for the AI to learn from.

“In just a minute, photographers can see their look intelligently applied across a gallery. It’s the fastest way to get from preset to adaptive edits,” says Aftershoot’s Co-Founder, Justin Benson.

Availability and Pricing

Instant AI Profiles are included with Aftershoot Pro and higher plans starting August 26, 2025. To mark the launch, new users get a 30-day free trial plus their first month of Aftershoot Pro for $15 (regularly $48/month). Existing trial users can also grab the $15 first-month deal through September 9, 2025.
