What Would It Look Like If Men Did Boudoir

There is a type of photography called Boudoir. Originally Boudoir refereed to a location in the house, usually the lady’s room, but this term has been borrowed for intimate female photography.
“The most common manifestation of contemporary boudoir photography is to take variations of candid and posed photographs of the subject partly clothed or in lingerie. Nudity is more often implied than explicit“#
Of course it would be an extremely interesting experiment to swap the lady for a dude. And this is exactly what Masika May did.
Masika tells DIYP that the photos were a gift from Brendon to his wife towards her birthday, and is almost an exact replicate of how Masika poses her female clients.

Of course, Mesika having both some experience in Boudoir, as well as knowing Brenden and wife for a very long time made this a pleasant session and an ecstatic memory for his wife.
I was contacted back in September by Brendon to take these photos for his wife for her birthday which is January 19th. I have known his wife my entire life and have photographed every milestone this couple has had so of course I said yes even though its not normally the type of photos I take. We brainstormed some ideas and thought it would be pretty awesome if he did it in the style that women do boudoir photos. I posed him almost exactly how I pose my female clients and these photos are the result. He made them into a photobook for his wife and she was pretty much ecstatic about them

Corrected title: “What would it look like if a man who SHOULDN’T be in Boudoir… was”. lol
What? Normal dudes?
because every woman who does boudoir is a Vogue model?
I know someone who does “Dude-oir” photos. I know they are presenting this like a joke. But she’s been doing them for a few years now. Most of her work is boudoir but occasionally she’ll have male clients.
I’m a boudoir photographer – and yep, done the Dudoir thing as well, it was a LOT of fun, the client loved the images, in the end, that’s what counts
This looks kind of silly, but it reminds me of work I researched while working on my thesis, male and masculinity.
Uhhhh, they do.
I agree, and was going to comment the same thing.
But unlike the opinions of others… I think that successful boudoir using men as subjects ABSOLUTELY has to take into account BOTH the man AND the pose(s).
Agreed ;-)
Yes, thank you, now we know why, perhaps if he was Beckham or Pitt ……….
It’s not the guy, it’s the poses.
Are you sensualophobic?
I’m expecting something more like this….
LOL
(This guy DOES have the legs, though…)
?
No, no, no and no.
I’m a boudoir photographer and cater for women only as I know I’d be useless at this style with a male client. I think photography of the male form needs to have a much more masculine angle to it and word boudoir doesn’t add that for me and dudeoir makes it sound like a joke. I agree totally with Casey, it’s not the guy, it’s how feminine and typically boudoir the pose is for it to look good.
^ which knocks on the head the oft claimed idea that boudoir is somehow “empowering” for women. If a bloke in the same pose looks emasculated it’s showing that anyone in that pose is weakened by it.
LOL
idk if I would necessarily do “boudoir” for men. I might employ a strategically placed tool belt or computer keyboard, whatever the man is into. This is just silly. The male form can be represented just as beautifully as the female form.
Male poses are different.. And in my case you had better somehow hide my fat gut :-)
I would definitely pay for a GQ-style shoot of my man in the buff, this was just silly-fun.
Hope this is ‘ tongue in cheek’ The poses are very feminine.
Maybe shave the guy first….
why?
Nope!
Braking stereotypes… Ballsy move from both photographer and model! Hats off to Brendon for not bursting in laughter. I know I would…
Rebecca Fajardo lol
Omg lol!!!!
This is less boudoir photography and more satire.
One can truly hope!
Its called Brodoir ;) http://allentaylorphotography.com/?p=2807
I think it’s awesome! It says so much in a few photos about so many things in our society. Nicely done. And done with humour too.
Dudoir, awesome. http://www.davidhowardphotography.co.uk
Fun enough and glad the client was happy (that is what counts) but not male boudoir photography. Different body shapes need a different style of pose. Perhaps if the gent was shaved and had moobs some of the poses would have worked.
Funny images, but has nothing to do with boudoir ? Posing men and women the same is just plain wrong ? Btw, male boudoir is called Dudoir ?
If you guys (and gals) love THIS “Dudeoir” photoshoot then you’re gonna freakin’ DIE when you see TwomblyTV!!’s amazing VIDEO shoot ???
