The 11th International Landscape Photographer of the Year competition has crowned Andrew Mielzynski from Canada as its top winner, celebrating his exceptional portfolio . Selected from 3,643 entries from around the globe, Andrew’s triumph reflects his deep dedication to the craft. This recognition is even more significant as he came tantalizingly close last year, proving the power of persistence.
Andrew was awarded based on a portfolio of four images. Interestingly enough, three of them show Canadian winter scenes that will make you want to take photos in this season even if, like me, you’re not a fan. And yet, one of the photos was taken in Atacama Desert in Argentina… So there’s something to warm you up when you come back from taking photos in the snow. :)
“I think this year’s winner Andrew Mielzynski knows all about patience, perseverance and determination, based on the quality of his winning portfolio,” said Chairman of Judges, Peter Eastway. “There’s also another reason why I suggest he has these qualities: last year he was a very close runner-up in these awards, so to be awarded first prize this year is a testament to the standard of his work.”

Ignacio Palacios from Australia secured second place, with Romania’s Gheorghe Popa rounding out the top three. These photographers demonstrated the extraordinary skill and vision required to excel in this portfolio-based category.

The award for the best single landscape image went to Ryohei Irie from Japan, whose photograph captured a moment of breathtaking beauty. It looks like an abstract painting, and I absolutely can’t stop looking at it. The contest celebrates both portfolio and single-image artistry, showcasing the variety and skill of photographers worldwide.
