Aputure has today announced the new Aputure Electro Storm CS15 LED light. Aimed at higher-end filmmakers, it’s an RGBWW LED light with high SSI colour quality. It features dual accessory mounts and industry-standard professional connectivity methods. It also has an IP65 dust and water resistance rating for use in less-than-ideal weather.
The company says that it’s comparable in output to a 1800W HMI light. They also say this makes it the most powerful and colour-accurate point-source fixture on the market today. It features advanced tech like an optional motorised mounting system. And it also sports liquid-cooling technology for higher performance.
The Aputure Electro Storm CS15 features a dual accessory mount. By “accessory”, we’re talking modifiers. It means that the Electro Storm CS15 supports both Bowens mount modifiers and Aputure’s electronic A-Mount compatibility. This makes it a very versatile mounting system. It’s compatible with arguably the most prolific modifier mount there, as well as Aputure’s own advanced modifiers. At the moment, that means three reflectors and the upcoming 14-inch F14 Fresnel lens – which communicates with the light for both optimised colour and motorised focus control.
An optional motorised yoke is available for the Electro Storm CS15. This allows for smooth pan and tilt operation via remote control. This is ideal for lights rigged from ceilings, up very tall stands or other hard-to-reach places. When physical access to adjust the angle of the light can be difficult or impossible, this will be a lifesaver.
For remote control, it includes wireless LumenRadio CRMX, Art-net & sAVN via etherCON, Sidus Link app control, as well as wired 16-bit 5-pin DMX512. It has a white balance range from 2,000K up to 10,000K with green magenta shift and the full complement of RGB modes. It also has high-speed flicker-free dimming modes for use at higher frame rates.
The Aputure Electro Storm CS15 is supplied with an AC power adapter, but you can also supply it power when away from plug sockets. You can power it using batteries through dual 48V DC inputs when going portable. Its IP65 rating also means you can use it in somewhat severe weather conditions.
