Megadap’s Leica M to Canon RF Adapter Brings Autofocus to Your Manual Lenses for $399

Megadap has a new autofocus adapter that lets you mount Leica M-mount lenses on Canon RF cameras. It opens up new possibilities for anyone sitting on a collection of Leica, Voigtländer, or Zeiss glass who’s moved to Canon’s RF ecosystem.

M-mount lenses are some of the most optically refined glass you can get, but they’re manual-focus-only by design. If you’re shooting street, portraits, or anything that moves, that limitation could be frustrating. Megadap’s adapter adds not just basic AF but also eye detection, subject tracking, and continuous AF.

Aperture is still set manually on the lens itself, and you’ll need to match it in-camera. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s not as seamless as shooting with a native lens. The adapter does store Exif data, which is a nice touch for keeping your metadata organized. There’s a dedicated AF/MF switch on the adapter body, and double-clicking it activates macro mode, which tightens the minimum focusing distance for when your subjects are closer.
