Find your happy place in the winning images of the 2021 Landscape Photographer of the Year award

An almost dream-like photograph of the sunken Saxon aged Mill Lane in Sussex has won the UK’s Landscape Photographer of the Year Award for 2021. The image was taken by Mara Leite and won her the £10,000 top prize.

“With the glorious ring lighting and splash of golden light at the top, there is a sense of security and protection as much as secrecy that emerges from this delicate photograph where we are beckoned to go forward,” said the founder of the award and celebrated landscape photographer Charlie Waite, adding “despite the gate at the far end, perhaps there is an additional feeling that one would never wish to reach it”. Now in its 14th year the competition received tens of thousands of entities, and the winning and shortlisted photographs will be exhibited at London Bridge between Nov 15th 2021 and 9th January 2022. The shortlisted and winning entries of the 14th edition of the Landscape Photographer of the Year will also be published as a hardback book by Ilex (available from October 28th 2021 for $40), described by The Times as “an affordable treat…for anyone with eyes”.
