Jesús Ramirez from Photoshop Training Channel often shows us awesome Photoshop tricks and tutorials. In his latest video, he shares 5 quick Photoshop tricks in only 90 seconds. All of them only take a few moments to set up, and you can use them right now to speed up your workflow.

1. Select colors from other applications

With the Eye Dropper Tool, you can select colors from the applications outside of Photoshop. Move the Photoshop window to the side, click inside the canvas, and drag to the outside application to select any color you want.

2. Two windows for the same document

You can open the same document in two windows and work simultaneously on details and the overall image. Go to Window > Arrange > New Window for [document name]. Then go to Window > Arrange > 2-up Vertical. You can zoom in one tab to work on the details, and any changes you make will be reflected to the other tab as well.

3. Bring back refine edge

To refine a selection or a mask, you can use the Select and Mask workspace. But if you prefer the Refine Edge dialog box, you can bring it back. While you have a mask or a selection active, hold Shift and go to Select > Select and Mask.

4. Black & White adjustment layer to control luminance

With the Black and White adjustment layer, the sliders in the Properties panel control the luminosity of the individual colors. If you change the blending mode to Luminosity, the color returns and you can use the sliders to control the luminosity of those colors.

5. PSDT Photoshop template

In Photoshop CC 2015 and newer, you can convert a Photoshop document into a Photoshop template file. It’s as simple as it gets – just change the file extension from PSD to PSDT. When you open the template file, you’ll open a new instance of the document and you won’t be able to change the original file. If you want to edit the template file, change it back to PSD.
