A photographer is suing Las Vegas Raiders receiver Davante Adams for pushing him to the ground following a game. The Raiders lost the game to the Chiefs, and as Adams was exiting the field, the student photographer got in his way. Adams’ response was to push the photographer to the ground. Adams apologised immediately after the incident.

Park Zebley is a student at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, and works as a freelance photographer. He was covering the game for ESPN and was carrying video equipment at the time. Since the incident, he claims to have sustained whiplash injuries, headaches and concussion.

NASA has recently unveiled a new collection of mind-blowing images. Images from the two telescopes, the Chandra X-ray Observatory and the James Webb Space Telescope were combined to create the most mesmerizing views of two galaxies, a nebula and a star cluster.

Each image combines Chandra’s X-rays (a form of high-energy light) with infrared data from previously released Webb images. This light data is invisible to the unaided human eye. NASA also used data from the Hubble Space Telescope, the retired Spitzer Space Telescope, the European Space Agency’s XMM-Newton telescope and the European Southern Observatory’s New Technology Telescope.

Self-portraiture has been around for much longer than the much-maligned selfie. It is as old as art itself and is a real genre of photography in and of itself. But it’s not easy. If you’ve ever tried to take photographs of yourself, you’ll know just how difficult it can be.

Fortunately, advances in technology have helped enormously. However, the fact remains that what we think we look like in our mind rarely is how we actually look in the finished image. It can be an exercise in patience and trial and error. But it is possible to improve and get better at posing yourself. In this video from Mango Street, professional models give advice on how you can look better in your self-portraits.

Instagram used to be a great place for still photographers to hang out. That was in the halcyon days before Meta took over the popular social media app, and keeping up with the algorithm became a never-ending game. It’s been tempting to stop posting altogether, especially as Insta seems to be more interested in keeping influencers happy than their regular users.

But does it have to be this way? Is there still a way to use Instagram that can help your photography business? Scott from Tin House Studio seems to think so. Except that most of us are doing it wrong. In this video, Scott shares his personal views and ideas on how to use Instagram to your advantage in 2023.

An AI-generated image that showed an explosion near the US Pentagon sparked turbulence earlier this week when it went viral on social media. The image briefly affected the stock market and has highlighted concerns over the potential impact of AI-generated images.

The image itself shows a thick black plume of smoke, alarmingly close to one of the US government buildings. It was allegedly shared across Twitter on verified accounts. The origin of the image remains unclear.

The delicious winning images from the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2023

UK photographer Jon Enoch has won the top award at the Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year 2023 competition with his photo “The Candy Man”. The photograph was taken in the streets of western Mumbai near the candy-floss-selling grounds of the beaches and fairs. It is part of a wider series of images of the sellers, which capture the unique ways used to display the candy goods in the hope of attracting a buyer.

“This is a magnificent picture,” says Caroline Kenyon, Founder Pink Lady® Food Photographer of the Year. “For me, it evokes the great late 18th and early 19th century portraits of Reynolds and Gainsborough – the gaze, the full-length figure, the subject’s position in the frame. The man in the picture may have a humble way of life, touting his wares of toxically-coloured candy floss, but he himself is splendid. This image shows us beautifully the universal truth, we are all the same.”

Well, we knew it was probably going to happen, but now it’s official. Montana has just become the first US state to outright ban the popular social media app TikTok. Montana Governor Greg Gianforte signed legislation yesterday (May 17th) to ban the Chinese-owned app from operating in the state.

The move was allegedly to protect residents from the threat of spying and data collection by the Chinese government. It is the first of the 50 states to implement a total ban.

So the rumours are true. No, not the alien abduction ones, the ones about ‘gators living in the sewers. Well, the Florida sewers, at any rate. One maintenance crew got a bit of a shock when they discovered a fully grown alligator inside a storm pipe this month.

The stormwater crew were working for the City of Oviedo in Florida when they filmed the footage of the 5-foot-long reptile. At first, they thought they were seeing the glowing eyes of a toad staring back at them out of the dark. Fortunately for them, it is normal procedure to send a robotic camera to investigate rather than a junior team member.
