Over the last few days the blogosphere and the photography world specifically has been engaged in an effort to save a little girl’s life. Eliza has been diagnosed with a terminal genetic disease – Sanfilippo Syndrome. While there is a cure developed, there are not enough funds to bring it into production. Photographer Benjamin Von Wong and Petapixel’s editor in chief, DL Cade traveled to the family’s house to make a video to help raise the funds needed. We interviewed Ben below.

At their NAB Show today, Sony made certain that ‘4K’ would be their hot word for audiences to catch on to. It’s what came up on the screen as the live stream even began, and continued to be spoken about for its presence in medicine, business, filmmaking, and consumer use. Sony made sure that 4k touched every single topic they covered. One of those topics was the company’s announcement of the full frame Sony A7S, a camera introduced at the end of the segment that we’ve been anticipating for a while now.
Tesla is the most innovative automobile company out there right now, period. I can say that as a fact, and no one is going to disagree because it’s the truth. While out for a relaxing, spring-time ride (okay, so he’s weaving across both lanes of traffic at high speeds on very winding roads, and I’m totally confused as to which vehicles are coming or going), the 21-year-old Knutsford, Cheshire resident passed two other bikers, dropped around a turn, and missed a potentially-deadly 60mph head-on collision with an oncoming car by inches, flying off the road and tumbling 40 feet down an embankment. The App claims to provide full, uncompressed video from the iPhone 5 coming at 2K resolution (roughly twice the res of full HD – 1936X1446). iPhone 5S can push this res a bit further to 2240×1672. Both using the H.264 iFrame codec.[Read More…]
Reuters has been following suit along with the Chicago Sun-Times on changing the way its handling the photography division. Last August, the company laid off all of their sports photographers in North America. And now, it’s been announced that Gary Hershorn, a photographer who’s worked at Reuters for over 30 years, is having his last work day at the company on April 1.
