Star-stacking timelapses are amazing, and so are the thunderstorm timelapses. But when you have both in a single frame, it’s simply breathtaking. Maui-based photographer Joe Domrad has created a timelapse like this, and it’s a real treat for the eyes.

To create this timelapse, Joe took about 500 photos shot with around 12-second exposure. And in this star-stacking timelapse, you can see a whole lot going on. There are a thunderstorm and star trails that are mesmerizing on their own. At one point, dotted lines begin to appear, and you can probably guess – those are the airplanes passing across the sky. Finally, due to long exposure, some car headlights were captured as they illuminated the water. And all together creates a pretty surreal scene.

Take a look at the video and see for yourself, and make sure to follow Joe on Instagram for more of his work.
