Sony’s Xperia phones have been struggling. Of that, there is no doubt. With strong competition from the likes of Apple, Huawei, Samsung, LG and others, they’ve just not been able to keep up. Wccf Tech reports that while many believed that Sony would simply close or sell off their struggling smartphone division, they’re actually merging it into the Sony TV, audio and camera product lines.

Yesterday, Sony’s upcoming QX1 was leaked onto the internet, giving us our first look at the lens mount and exactly what it’s expected to bring to smartphone users. The device wasn’t just officially announced today; it’s coming with a partner, as well, called the QX30.

I’ll start off with a TL;DR. Basically, we got the QX1 down yesterday: a mount compatible with any E-mount lens Sony offers. The newly announced QX30, however, is a fixed lens mount with an appropriate-to-title 30X optical zoom.

With six months passing by since the release of the a6000, last night held the announcement of Sony’s new compact alternative to the mirrorless camera. Called the a5100, the new camera’s name echoes exactly what its purpose is: to serve as a lower-priced option for those who still like what the a6000 has to offer.

Sony’s announced the pricing and availability for the a7S, a camera recently unveiled at last month’s NAB Show. The flagship camera is now available for pre-order at B&H Photo Video for a price of about $2500, which is significantly less than what most of online media had been predicting earlier on ($3500, to be exact). Pre-order or not, you can grab the a7S when it’s officially released in July.

Aside from the pricing announcement finally coming out for Sony’s new DSLR, the company also decided to bring in the third entry to their RX100 series: the Mark III.

Earlier today, the 2014 Mobile World Congress took place in Barcelona, and it came packed with quite a few noteworthy stories. Nokia announced the immediate release of not one, but three Android-powered mid-range smartphone models; HTC announced its next entry to the mid-range Desire, sporting a 13MP camera; Samsung – well – remained Samsung with its overall minor update to the Galaxy S line (but hey – maybe that’s just my inner design critic getting frustrated at how much hasn’t changed about the phone’s look). Even if the Galaxy S5’s been grabbing most of the headlines for MWC, Sony still ended up bringing itself a good amount of attention with the products it unveiled today,

Out of them, the Xperia Z2 was what garnered the most interest. Sony’s latest addition to the Xperia line comes in bold colors, as well as bold promises; the waterproof phone packs a 20.7 megapixel camera, one which the company is proudly calling the “world’s best mobile camera”.
