Irix expands its cinema lens lineup to include Fuji X mount

Irix has today announced the addition of Fuji X mount to the list of mounts in which their lenses are available. This adds to the growing number of mounts, including Canon EF, Canon RF, Nikon Z, PL Mount, Micro Four Thirds and Sony E. The Irix lens lineup is still fairly small, covering only seven lenses – and even two of those are fairly similar to each other. But the addition of X mount will be very welcome to Fuji shooters.

All lenses in the Irix lineup feature a unified design to bring consistency to the range with aperture and focus ring positions and overall dimension and weight. This makes it easy to swap out on camera rigs and gimbals without needing to reconfigure or rebalance your camera.

Tamron’s ultra-wide 11-20mm F2.8 lens is coming to Fuji X

Tamron has announced that the company’s 11-20mm F/2.8 Di III-A RXD, initially launched in April 2021 for Sony E mount is coming to Fuji X. The news from Tamron isn’t a release announcement just yet, but a development announcement. So, it’s coming, it’s on the way, but they haven’t yet said when – or confirmed that the price is the same as the Sony version.

This marks the 4th lens in the Tamron lineup for Fujifilm X mount cameras, adding to the 17-70mm f/2.8, 18-300mm f/3.5-6.3 and 150-500mm f/5-6.7. The full specs for the lens haven’t been released yet, although I think it’s pretty safe to assume that the important ones will be identical to that of the E mount version, as is the case with the 150-500mm f/5-6.7, with some slight variance in length and weight.

Samyang seems to be working on a new autofocus 75mm f/1.8 lens, according to a leaked promotional image. What makes this different from their existing autofocus 75mm f/1.8 lens? Well, it looks like this one’s not going to be available for just Sony E Mount. This one’s coming for Fuji X mount, which means this is also likely going to be an APS-C lens. The previous Samyang 75mm f/1.8 for Sony is full-frame.

There’s no word yet on when the lens will be officially released, although it marks the second autofocus lens in Samyang’s X mount lineup since Fuji opened up the system to third parties. It joins Samyang’s 12mm f/2 for Fuji X, but with two lenses at such extremes, when are they going to start filling in the rest of the range in between?

Teased at the end of November with a little bit of a photos leak, Viltrox has now officially announced their new 75mm f/1.2 autofocus lens for Fuji X mirrorless cameras. The new lens adds to Viltrox’s existing 13mm f/1.4, 23mm f/1.4 Mark II, 33mm f/1.4, 56mm f/1.4, and 85mm f/1.8 Mark II but marking a new milestone in maximum aperture at a very bright f/1.2.

It offers a full-frame equivalent field of view to around 112.5mm, with full autofocus support on Fuji X mount cameras. It houses 16 elements in 11 groups inside an aluminium alloy enclosure. The HD Nano multi-layer helps to repel dirt and moisture with low-dispersion elements helping to squash chromatic aberration and other potential issues.

Since Fuji finally opened up its lens X mount to 3rd parties, we’ve seen a lot of great and interesting lenses popping up. Sigma’s finally started expanding its range to include Fuji shooters, as well as Tamron, Tokina, Zeiss and more. One company that’s been offering a lot of autofocus lenses for Fuji is Viltrox, with seven lenses having been released. Now, it seems there’s a new one on the way.

Photos have leaked of an as yet unannounced Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 XF lens. As an APS-C lens, it offers the equivalent field of view to around 112.5mm on full-frame, making for a nice, fast, super-wide-aperture portrait lens for Fuji shooters. It should become available at a fairly reasonable price, too, given that it’s being made by Viltrox.

Sigma has announced the new Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 DC DN Contemporary Lens for Fuji X Mount. Originally released in October of 2021 for Leica L and Sony E mount, this APS-C lens is now available to Fuji shooters. It’s pretty much the same lens, but with a new mount, so it has all of the same specifications with the same internals and external appearance. It just has a larger customer base.

The new addition expands Sigma’s Fuji X mount lineup now to four lenses, along with the 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary, 30mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary and 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary fast prime lenses released earlier this year. Although this is the first zoom lens Sigma is releasing for Fuji shooters, they’ve kept with a fast aperture lens having a constant f/2.8 throughout the zoom range.

TTartisan has announced their newest lens. This time, it’s an autofocus one and it’s for the Fujifilm X mount camera system. The TTartisan 27mm f/2.8 is compatible with pretty much all Fuji X cameras, offering a field of view equivalent to around 41mm on full-frame. It’s a very compact pancake-style autofocus lens that should be ideal for travel and street photography.

The all-metal construction lens has an f/2.8 aperture, which isn’t super wide but wide enough for many uses. It’ll still see quite well in the dark while offering a shallower depth of field with close-up subjects. It has an STM stepper motor AF system for smooth and quick operation and a USB-C interface for upgrading the lens firmware.

Fuji adds three new 8mm f/3.5, f/2.8 30mm macro and 56mm f/1.2 X mount lenses to its roadmap

Well, it seems to be a moment for lenses, huh? After Fuji’s two new lenses with the Fuji X-H2S announcement, Sigma’s new lens and Sony’s three new APS-C lenses, Fuji’s added three more to the X mount lens roadmap. The three new lenses are the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2, the XF 30mm f/2.8 R Macro and the XF 8mm f/3.5. All three of them sound like they’ll potentially be a lot of fun to play with.

Fujifilm says that they’ve been expanding the lineup of XF lenses to “broaden the appeal of premium image quality and advanced mobility made possible by the X Mount system”. This basically means that they know they’re lacking in a couple of areas and now they’re trying to make up for it. Of course, that’s not a bad thing. The more the merrier, I say, when it comes to lenses!

Tokina goes wide aperture with its new SZ 33mm f/1.2 APS-C lens for Fuji X and Sony E mount

Tokina has announced the new Tokina SZ 33mm f/1.2 lens for Fujifilm X and Sony E mount APS-C cameras. The manual focus offers a field of view similar to that of a 50mm lens on a full-frame body with a wide and bright f/1.2 aperture for shallow depth of field and low light shooting conditions. As well as manual focus, the lens also features a manual aperture ring to help keep it down to a budget-friendly price.

Tokina bills the lens as being ideal for landscapes, street photography, portraits and nighttime photography, and is a third of a stop faster than the Tokina ATX-M 33mm f/1.4 it replaces in the lineup. Despite trying to keep the price as low as possible, though, it’s a little bit more expensive than its predecessor.

Cosina has anounced four new Voigtländer prime lenses for mirrorless shooters. Out of those, three are made for Nikon Z cameras, and one is intended for Fiji X shooters.

The 50mm f/2 and 35mm are made for full-frame Nikon Z cameras. Of course, you can attach them to an APS-C body too and get 75mm or ~52mm equivalent focal length. The 23mm f/1.2 comes in Nikon Z and Fuji X version, and it was made for APS-C cameras, but it can be used in the crop mode of your full-frame camera.
