Iranian photographer Alireza Rostami has a limited budget, but unlimited imagination. We’ve featured some of his awesome DIY projects, and he just shared another one with us. He gave a new life to a broken 35mm camera and turned it into a wrist cam. It doesn’t only take photos, but it looks pretty good, too!

Camera straps are a very personal thing. We all have our own preferences, straps we like and straps we hate. There’s been a lot of variety come about in the world of camera straps over the last few years. Now, instead of just the standard “neck strap”, we’ve got wrist straps, hand straps, full-on holsters and a whole lot more.

One brand that’s been popping up a lot lately is Dsptch. They make a line of paracord neck & wrist straps, and they’re quite nice, but not exactly cheap. Photographer Evan 5ps has been using one of these on his Fuji X-Pro2 for a while. He needed another for Fuji X100F, but he decided to have a go at making his own, and compare it with the Dsptch original.

All photographers know that composition and perspective are critical ingredients in producing images that stand out from the crowd. Camera manufactures even provide us with tilt screens to enable us to shoot from just about any perspective. But wait a minute…let’s think about the role of that innocuous item of gear that you’ve attached to your camera without even giving it a second thought and will probably remain there for the entire life of that camera – the camera strap.

Yes, it was free, and yes, it may sport the model of your latest purchase, but let’s just stop and think about what else it does. Let’s imagine for a second that you had to purchase it and think about it the pro’s and con’s, about its value, function and benefits in the way you chose a lens or other item of gear…based on what you want to achieve and your personal shooting style.
