Moment Strohl Mountain Light 45L Backpack: a camera backpack for serious wilderness photographers

I feel like I’ve kissed a lot of frogs when it comes to camera bags. Sometimes it feels a little like Goldilocks searching for something ‘just right’. Not too heavy, not too small, room for items besides camera gear, but I need to bring ALL THE GEAR! I’m not sure such a thing actually exists, it may actually be a unicorn. I’ve never yet found The Perfect Camera Bag (yes those capitals are deliberate!).

Perhaps a far better approach then is to find a bag that exactly fits the requirements for a particular type of photography. Most of us do more than one type, and I must say that the requirements of an outdoors adventure photographer will be very different from say, a city-based portraits on-location photographer. With this in mind, I got to test out the Moment Strohl Mountain Light 45L camera backpack and give it a good run through its paces in the outdoors.

Many wildlife photographers like to travel to photograph animals they can’t see in their home country. But Roie Galitz likes to push it a bit further. From the Arctic to Antarctica, Roie has traveled to the remote corners of the Earth to bring us photos of animals we rarely get to see.

This amazing wilderness timelapse of Canada took 6 weeks to shoot and 9 months to edit

Every once in a while, a timelapse comes along that just takes your breath away. You could take almost any frame from such films and it stands up on its own as a still photography. Alive, by German filmmaker Florian “Flo” Nick, is one such timelapse film. It was shot over 5,500km travelled in six weeks exploring the vast landscapes of Alberta and British Columbia. And it’s is absolutely beautiful.

Alex Baker is a portrait and lifestyle driven photographer based in Valencia, Spain. She works on a range of projects from commercial to fine art and has had work featured in publications such as The Daily Mail, Conde Nast Traveller and El Mundo, and has exhibited work across Europe

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. Dave has traveled extensively in recent years, capturing stunning images from around the world in a modified van. His work has been featured in various publications and he has worked with notable brands such as Skoda, EE, Boeing, Huawei, Microsoft, BMW, Conde Nast, Electronic Arts, Discovery, BBC, The Guardian, ESPN, NBC, and many others.

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
