Fuji has announced its newest accessory for its range of mirrorless cameras, the TG-BT1 Tripod Grip. It’s designed for Fuji’s X series cameras to enhance mobility and ease of use handheld, particularly for video. It folds together as a handle, letting you use it for things like vlogging, with an array of buttons to let you control the camera directly from the handle and the legs also unfold to form a mini tripod.

Releasing such a device has become a common trend amongst mirrorless camera manufacturers as each company start to realise that vlogging is a thing for which people are using their products. We’ve seen similar products from Sony, Canon and Panasonic, and now it’s Fuji’s turn.

Joby’s Gorillapod has been the tripod of choice amongst many vloggers for quite a few years now. They weren’t originally designed for this use, though, and it’s been tough for them to stand up to the rigors of daily use for this purpose. They don’t always last as long as some might hope and vloggers have posted at length with their frustrations, yet still keep buying more.

Joby has now responded to those concerns, though, announcing the Gorillapod 3K Pro – a lightweight aluminium version of the Gorillapod designed to help stand up to those daily vlogger demands. DIYP had a chat with Joby during NAB 2019 to find out more about it.

There are a few brands out there that make small, compact tripods. But SwitchPod is a new product that aims to provide you with everything you need from a mini tripod. It’s small, lightweight, compact and it transforms in a few seconds. And you could find it useful regardless of the camera you use and what you shoot, be it photos videos or vlogs. Well, especially vlogs, I’d say.

Here is one of the weirdest products we’ve seen. It’s called the Platypod, and it’s the world flattest tripod. The Platypod is a small flat metal plate that hs a few features that makes it a pretty cool device if you don’t require the height of a tripod. Actually for some low-profile uses, it even better than a tripod.
