Sachtler’s new aktiv fluid video tripod head series is built for speed and easy setup

Sachtler has announced its new “aktiv” series of fluid video heads. Designed to replace their popular FSB model heads, the aktiv line is focused on speed and easy operation. There are four models in the new lineup, which are the aktiv6, aktiv8, aktiv8T and the aktiv10. They all share the same design principles but vary in load capacity, weight and size.

Manfrotto’s new Nitrotech 608 and Nitrotech 612 fluid video tripod heads represent the latest in Manfrotto’s fluid head technology. Designed to offer the smoothest level of control and movement possible, the two new heads immediately drew our attention at NAB 2019. So, we stopped by the stand to have a chat and find out more.

First look at Manfrotto Nitrotech N12 video head

Manfrotto recently released two new video heads, the Nitrotech N8, and the Nitrotech N12. Those are high-load video heads which support 0-8kg and 4-12kg respectively.

What is interesting about those heads is their counterbalance mechanism. Unlike lower-end heads, these heads have a nitrogen gas piston for counterbalance. We looked at the Nitrotech N8 and it supports quite a load (up to 8kg). The head provides continuous counterbalance power. This means that when you let go of the handle, the head keeps its position as if it was locked in place.
