U.S authorities will soon be legally allowed to shoot down your private drones

Shooting down drones in the USA has been a thing for a while. Or at least, attempting to. And while there may be circumstances under which civilians are allowed to shoot down privacy-invading drones, the US government wants their chance, too.

Congress has now passed the FAA Reauthorization Act, which will allow them to “disrupt”, “exercise control”, or “seize or otherwise confiscate” drones that they perceive to be a “credible threat”. But it is not without objection.

Military can legally shoot your drone down if you fly over a base

FAA’s regulations restrict flying the drones above the military bases. However, if you dare to do it anyway, you should know that you’ll most likely be left without your aircraft. The latest directive from Pentagon allows the military to seize or shoot down the drones that fly over the base. What’s more, the directive refers to both personal and commercial drones that are deemed a threat.

BTS Video of an Epic Photoshoot with a U.S. Military Explosives Team

One of the things I love about photography is how it can lead you to places and situations you’d never imagine possible.

Pete Leong’s photoshoot is a perfect example of this. Pete is an Australian wedding photographer who lives in Okinawa, Japan and takes pleasure in shooting water sports and seascapes when he’s not shooting weddings.

So far it sounds like Pete was enjoying life and getting the most out of living near the ocean. One day he was out an about shooting a family on location when he discovered the husband is a Master Sergeant for the military’s EOD (Explosive Ordnance Demolition) Company.

Next thing you know, Pete is wearing an 85 pound bomb suit and playing with C4 explosives!

Oh, and he got some epic photos as well…

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
