Sigma will replace your fp dials and buttons to make it feel like an fp L – for a price

Sigma has announced a new service for owners of their Sigma fp mirrorless camera. The new service provides a “for-free customisation” of your camera, swapping out the standard buttons and dials of the Sigma fp for those found on the Sigma fp L. That service will cost $150.

While this might not sound like a big deal, I’ve been told by friends who own both the Sigma fp and the Sigma fp L that there is a very different feel between the two cameras, and that the dials and buttons of the fp L are much firmer and less prone to accidentally being knocked, potentially sending your settings all over the place when you least expected it.

Sony quietly upgrades the A7R III and A7R IV with higher resolution LCD

Well, this is a little strange. Sony has updated both the Sony A7R IV and the older Sony A7R III (which I didn’t realise they were still even making) with a new, higher-resolution LCD, bumping it up from 1.44 million dots to 2,359,296 dots. Both models also see a slight change in model name, adding an “A” to their previous ILCE designation.

Both cameras now also now say they support USB 3.2, although this is a little bit misleading because nothing’s really changed in the USB department besides the name. The specs say USB 3.2 “SuperSpeed” at 5Gbps. That means USB 3.2 Gen 1, which is the same as USB 3.1 Gen 1 or USB 3.0. It also means the same as the original A7R III and A7R IV.

Sony α7S II To Sport 14-bit RAW; Available for a7r II Via Firmware Update

The team over at AlphaUniverse shared today that Sony has announced to make the a7S II will ship with the ability to capture uncompressed 14-bit RAW still images. Adobe Camera Raw 8.8 Now Available

Adobe has released ACR 8.8 as a final release for both Photoshop CS6 and Photoshop CC users.

For Lightroom users and those using older versions of Photoshop, the company has released DNG Converter 8.8.

Other than a few minor bug fixes, ACR 8.8 added support for ten new cameras including the Canon EOS Rebel T6I (750D) and Rebel T6s (760D), Nikon D5500 and Olympus OM-D E-M5 II.

It also adds profile support for a list of lenses in Canon, Nikon F, Sony Alpha, Sony E, Pentax, Sigma, Leica, MFT, DJI and Yuneec mounts.
