California’s new “Kobe Bryant Law” bans first responders from taking photos of the dead

A new law has recently been signed in California, making it illegal for first responders to take unauthorized photos of dead bodies at crime and accident scenes. The “Kobe Bryant Law” was inspired by the tragic death of the basketball superstar in January this year and the unauthorized uses of the accident scene images that occurred later. [Read More…]

News anchor sues Facebook and Reddit for using her photo in sexual content

Karen Hepp, a news anchor at Fox 29 News, is suing Facebook, Reddit, Imgur, and several other websites for “abhorrent and disgusting” uses of her photo. Reportedly, a security camera snapshot of Hepp ended up online, and it was used in dating and erectile dysfunction ads, as well as in sexualized context on other websites.

This 3rd Party Instagram App Has Been Stealing Your Credentials

If you’ve downloaded InstaAgent, an iOS and Android app designed to let you see who’s viewed your Instagram profile, you might want to delete it from your smartphone. According to a new report, the app – whose full name is ‘Who Viewed Your Profile – InstaAgent’ – is not only storing usernames and passwords in plaintext and sending them to a remote server, but also using those very credentials to log in and post unwanted images to users’ profiles.

InstaAgent has since been removed from both the Google Play Store and iOS App Store, but so long as it’s on your phone, it can still send your information.[Read More…]
