Now that Instagram has transformed into a short-form video platform geared towards creators and influencers looking to go viral, where do we hobbyists and enthusiasts share our photos and find other photographers?

It’s not Flickr: the user base isn’t mainstream enough. It’s not Twitter either: that’s mostly topical posts like news and opinion. Discord isn’t really a social network, but a group chat. And Facebook is a joke.

It’s Tumblr. (Wait, hear me out).

With Facebook and other social media platforms having a complete ban on nude and suggestive imagery, many nude and glamour photographers have turned to Tumblr as an outlet for their photography. But that’s going to change as Tumblr bans all adult content, including “female-presenting nipples” from December 17th.

It’s not new information that Yahoo has been struggling. It may have been one of the Internet’s original giants, but they just can’t keep up and compete today. Google dominates the search market, Messenger usurped by Facebook, no real mobile platform, and no solid leadership. It’s not looking good.

About the only things Yahoo have left that are really all that useful to the general Internet population are Flickr and Tumblr. Now, Recode reports that Verizon are about to take up the reins in a $5 billion acquisition of Yahoo.

You know how people photograph their happy moments and rush to post the photos on Facebook and other social media trying to make the world think their life is all peachy? Well here’s one person who made a living doing it; and why she stopped.

Essena O’Neill is a 19-year-old from Australia who used to spend a considerable amount of her time showing off her perfect life on various social media platforms.

With over one million fans, followers and subscribers Essena reached a point where she was able to support herself through sponsorships and was receiving modeling offers from some of the largest agencies out there.

Even though she says she had everything she ever wanted, yesterday she posted a video (without even putting on makeup) explaining why she has decided to quit all social media.

While some accounts will be shut down completely, she decided to leave her Instagram account active but edited the captions to reflect the truth behind those “perfect” moments.

A brand new Tumblr account has emerged in the last two weeks. Simply named “Photo Editor Texts” the Tumblr shares the amusing texts between photojournalists on assignment and their editors back in the office.

Ah, Tumblr, you a place of wonderment. Between the amazing photography related blogs (such as Zack Arias’ now retired 1,500 Q&A Tumblr) and amazing photo projects shared there, it’s a wonder I get much work done at all. But theres also a whole lot of ‘shipping of fictional characters and even more fan-love toward Supernatural and Dr Who, plenty of amusing cat gifs, and some genuinely hilarious people. Occasionally, you come across an amusing little project like this one.
