If you thought that you need big guns and a huge budget to create inspiring art, think again. Photographer and dancer duo Kim Henry & Eric Paré (previously), show that you can create absolutely stunning art using cheap equipment and a lot of dedication.

We shared Eric’s tube guard light painting technique before, but we had no idea that Eric was working on a short showing how he and Kim travel the world and using this simple method to create art in various interesting places.

How different flashlights impact on tube’s light Painting

A while back we shared Eric Pare’s method of creating perfect lighting painting circles with $3.5 tube guards. Basically it involves sticking a flashlight at the end of a tube and using it as an enormous light wand. (see the full post here).

If you were wondering if different flashlights yield different results, the answer is you betcha. Photographer Pete Polefitski compared 2 cheapo flash lights with an EagleTac D25LC2 torch.

The test involved doing the same Eric Pare signature tube guard look three time over a 3.2 seconds exposure.

Eric Pare (previously) just sent in this killer light painting tip. I really enjoy following Eric’s work because he is right there on the verge of science and art. This time he came up with a very clever light saber toy for light painting.

Eric is using tube guards, which are originally meant for florescent bulb protection, as a light painting medium and the results are quit epic:

John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
