Videographer captures the theft of his own camera gear on-camera

It happens that gear theft gets caught on security cameras. But a very weird footage was captured at an anti-racism rally in Toronto this Sunday. A thief was caught on camera while stealing a backpack full of camera gear – and it was all filmed by the gear’s very owner.

Having camera gear stolen sucks.  Having camera gear stolen while out on assignment really sucks.  Veteran sports photographer Gary Hershorn can testify to that first hand.  While covering the ongoing 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, Gary looked away for a second to put something in his bag, only to turn around and find that $18,000 worth of his gear had just been stolen.

For some impossible realities. For others, like Canadian photographer Thomas Dagg, a daily sighting.

Thomas takes the wonderful streets of Toronto and mixes it with his childhood memories. The city succumbs to Thomas’s strong memories of renting the trilogy over at Blockbusters, through almost dying to get a Chewbacca action figure.
