The Panasonic Lumix TS7 is a tough high tech camera for hobbyists

The Panasonic Lumix TS7 is the newest waterproof and shockproof compact camera in the Lumix lineup and it is all about being in water, sand or snow, all with no questions asked. Cell phones cameras never actually killed the point and shoot camera, they just made them tougher.

Not everything in photography is like that. With a tough camera, you don’t have to worry about fogging up the inner lens elements in the winter, or committing a dreaded “death-drop” with your expensive DSLR gear. Bringing this camera just about anywhere is not a worry so you can always get a shot of your adventures.

Panasonic aims for top spot in 4K video with new Lumix GH5

Back in 2009, I learned to shoot video on the now-classic Panasonic HVX200.

At that time shooting HD video to memory cards was pretty new in the video world. The HVX was released just a couple of years before the Canon 5d Mark II changed the whole video market. The HVX200 recorded SD (standard def) video to DV tapes, but 1080i recorded to Panasonic’s early flash storage, the P2 card. The problem was that our (only) 8gb P2 card could only store 11 minutes of HD video at a time at a cost of well over $1000! These days you can buy over 500gb of some of the fastest SD cards on the market for that for that much.

Super Fast And Ultra-Wide: First Look At The Sigma 20mm F/1.4 Art Lens

I have written before on the highly respected Sigma Art Series lenses (here and here) and I haven’t been let down yet. Sigma is now set to release the widest f/1.4 lens on the market, with the upcoming 20mm f1.4 DG HSM Art Lens to be released in the latter part of the month. Pre-order it here.

Sigma is courting the wide-angle photographer in all of us with this new lens, and Midwest Photo was given a rare pre-production model to get a feel for what is now the fastest 20mm lens on the market.

First Hands On Review Of The Sigma 24-35 F/2 DG HSM Art Lens

Sigma has recently announced another groundbreaking lens in their acclaimed Global Vision line of Art series lenses. This is the world’s first full frame zoom lens with an f/2 aperture. You heard that right. Prime lens speed, with the ability to change the focal length of the lens. Wow.

First Images From The Sigma 24-35mm F/2 Art Zoom Lens

Sigma was nice enough to send Midwest Photo a rare advance copy of the ground-breaking Sigma 24-35mm f/2 Art Zoom Lens. We have some of the first test photos from this lens and we will continue to update you with the latest images for the next couple of days! Needless to say, we are super-psyched.

Sigma has been doing extraordinary things with their Art, Sport, and Contemporary lenses as of late, and things just got a whole lot more interesting for Sigma.
