If you were impressed with Adobe’s Firefly AI text-to-image software, hold onto your hats, you ain’t seen nothin’ yet! Adobe just unveiled today the video version of Firefly. And it’s staggering.

It won’t be available even as a beta version until later this year, but Adobe has wowed everyone at NAB with what it can do so far to enhance your video and audio workflow. And just like the stills, Firefly is still being billed as the ‘ethical AI’ option as it was trained only on stock images and footage already in Adobe’s libraries.

A Microsoft executive has revealed that the next version of OpenAI’s ChatGPT will let you turn text into video. The upgrade will launch this week and will power both ChatGPT and Bing Chat. It will feature ‘multi-modal models’, which will allow text, audio, images and videos.

Microsoft has heavily invested in Open AI, to the tune of millions of dollars, and the plans were unveiled by Microsoft Germany CTO Andreas Braun at the recent AI in Focus – Digital Kickoff event.

Google rivals Meta by releasing Imagen video, its own text-to-video AI

Google has revealed its own text-to-video AI-generated program which is called Imagen video. Similar to Meta’s Make-a-video, the program allows users to generate a short video clip purely by entering descriptive text. It’s very similar to text-to-image apps such as Dall-E and Midjourney, however this time the end product is moving pictures.

Of course, this isn’t the first iteration of text-to-video, and neither was Meta’s for that matter. A few couple of months ago DIYP reported that it would be the next big AI visual progression, and in typical AI nature, that progress has reached us at an insanely rapid rate. But back to Google.

AI text-to-image generators have been in full swing lately. Even text-to-video has become a thing, now Meta has introduced its own. Just like the rest of these generators, Meta’s Make-A-Video AI model lets you turn textual prompts into short video clips.

Make-A-Video offers three different styles of videos: surreal, realistic, and stylized. And while I still find it impressive that this technology even exists – even the “realistic” videos give me the creeps.

By now, you’ve probably heard of text-to-image prompt-based AI such as DALL-E2, Midjourney, and even Google‘s own version. These programmes pretty much do what they sound like – they take a text prompt or set of instructions, and turn them into an image. It’s usually either photo-realistic or it’s an illustration.

Tests have shown just how powerful this technology can be, and because it’s AI, it means that it’s constantly evolving and getting better and better. Well now, text-to-video AI has arrived, and it could be a complete game changer.
