NiSi has teased a new set of Athena full-frame cinema lenses ahead of the upcoming NAB 2023 show in Las Vegas next week. The lineup includes five lenses, with a 14mm T2.4 and 24mm, 35mm, 50mm and 85mm T1.9 lenses. Each of the lenses will be available in three mounts, including the usual PL mount, as well as Sony E and Canon RF mounts.

Each of the lenses (except PL mount) appears to include a rear mounted filter holder. These are to accept the upcoming NiSi Full Spectrum (FS) ND filters designed specifically for the Athena lenses. NiSi says that the filters are designed to be as colour neutral as possible and transmit even amounts of UV, near-infrared as well as visible light.

DJI Inspire 3 announcement on April 13th teased on DJI website

It’s been almost six and a half years since DJI announced the DJI Inspire 2 drone. Now it looks like we’re finally going to see its successor. The company hasn’t said much about the new drone, presumably called the DJI Inspire 3, although they have posted a teaser on their website. It talks about the origins of flight from the world’s first hot air balloon flight in 1858 leading up to the modern creator’s aerial needs.

Interestingly, the trailer page talks about the introduction of the DJI Inspire 1 back in 2014, but it doesn’t mention the Inspire 2 at all. However, the silhouette in the image at the top of the page is clearly that of an Inspire-style drone. The “Inspiration Arrives” slogan is also a pretty big hint. Exactly what features it will offer are unknown, but what is known is that it’s coming on April 13th.

Insta360’s new teaser says they’re entering the gimbal market

The teaser above was just posted to Insta360’s YouTube channel. In it, we can see various close-ups and details that all lead towards one conclusion. Insta360 is entering the gimbal market. It seems to take a few pointers from other gimbals on the market, such as a magnetic mount, while managing to retain what appears to be a very unique appearance. And appearance with lots of sleek curves.

Given the talk of helping you “master your mobile shots” in the video description – not to mention the aforementioned magnetic bracket at the end – this suggests that this is a gimbal for smartphones and not the action or 360-degree cameras we’ve become familiar with from Insta360.But we’ll find out soon enough, as it’s expected to be announced on March 29th at 9am Eastern.

Sony teases upcoming ZV-E1 full-frame vlogging camera coming on March 29

Sony Taiwan has posted a teaser image to Instagram for an upcoming vlogging camera. This is expected to be the recently rumoured full-frame vlogging camera, the Sony ZV-E1. Similar to the Sony ZV-E10, the ZV-E1 will be a camera specifically focused on vlogging – as the slogan above confirms. General video will be secondary, and photography will barely be a consideration. It’ll still shoot photos, but I wouldn’t hold out hope for advanced features.

It’s said to be based around the Sony A7S III, including 4K 120fps with no cropping and no pixel binning, using the same 12-megapixel sensor found in both the A7S III and FX3. The ISO capabilities are also rumoured to extend up to ISO 409,600, although it’s unclear what autofocus system the camera will have yet. It’s expected to be similar to that of either the Sony A7 IV or A7R V, although nothing solid on which.

Lots of photos and specs leak ahead of DJI Mavic 3 Classic announcement

It’s getting close to an official announcement now, just a couple of days left to go. As expected, though, pretty much all of the important details of DJI’s upcoming Mavic 3 Classic drone have leaked. We’re also seeing a whole bunch more leaked photos, too. The leaks come via Roland Quandt of Winfuture, and there’s a lot!

As expected, it’s pretty much the same as the regular DJI Mavic 3, except with a single camera on the gimbal rather than two. Like the main camera on the Mavic 3, the Mavic 3 Classic’s camera contains a 20-megapixel 4/3 CMOS sensor and shoots video at up to 5.1K resolution. It has a 24mm equivalent focal length lens for an 84° field of view with a variable aperture of f/2.8 to f/11 and a minimum focus distance of 1 metre.

DJI teases November 2nd date for possible Mavic 3 Classic drone announcement

DJI has posted a new teaser to Twitter and put up a trailer page on the DJI website for a new product announcement event on November 2nd. Along with the date and a 9am Eastern start time for the event, we also see the slogan “Explore Vivid” and a picture of what looks like the Mavic 3 camera but with a single lens.

A filing with the FCC was recently published for a Mavic 3 Classic drone and the image in the new teaser looks pretty much identical in form to the images leaked a couple of weeks ago. So, I think expecting it to be the Mavic 3 Classic announcement isn’t unreasonable. It’s expected to be a cut-down version of the existing Mavic 3 line, with the same design and mostly the same electronics but with a single camera for a lower price.

Laowa expected to finally announce their full-frame 20mm f/4 C-Dreamer shift lens next week

This one’s been a long time in the making, but according to a teaser image, it seems that Venus Optics is finally getting ready to announce their Laowa 20mm f/4 C-Dreamer shift lens next week. The lens was first shown off way back in July 2021 at a photography show in Shanghai, China. It sure has been a wait but now it looks like the lens might finally be upon us.

According to last year’s report, the lens is expected to cover a full-frame sensor, a focal length of 20mm, a maximum aperture of f/4 and offer shift capabilities – but no tilt. The lens hasn’t been called out by name in the new teaser, however, the overall design and markings on the lens are clearly the same as the lens shown off in Shanghai as well as a second image that appears to have leaked.

Insta360 teases a new camera to be announced on March 22nd

It’s been a minute since Insta360 launched a new camera. Or at least, since they’ve launched one that appears to be of the action variety alluded to in the teaser video below that was posted to Insta360’s YouTube channel today. Insta360 has said nothing about what’s coming, beyond the “built to adapt” tagline and the March 22nd, 2022 date.

So far, the only camera in the Insta360 lineup that could be really considered “adaptable” is the Insta360 ONE R. We’ve also got the obvious symbolism in the image above as well as the YouTube thumbnail, both of which offer a striking resemblance to the ONE R. When you add these factors along with the style of the video, the implication seems pretty obvious to me!

Yongnuo teases YN 85mm f/1.8Z DF DSM full-frame autofocus lens for Nikon Z mount

It looks like Yongnuo might be getting set to announce a few new lenses for Nikon Z mount after teasing the YN 85mm f/1.8 Z DF DSM on Chinese social media. Interestingly, despite posting this in February, Nikon Rumors reports that it’s expected to be officially announced “on the 31st of this month”. I’m not sure exactly where they’ve seen that date, but the teaser image is looking for users to help trial the lens at the moment.

So far, nothing appears to have been posted to Yongnuo’s Facebook page about the new lens, but it adds to the rumoured 50mm f/1.8 Z DF DSM and 20mm f/1.8 DF DSM lenses – the latter of which is also expected to come for Sony E mount – which leaked last month.

Samyang sneaks upcoming autofocus (?) 135mm f/1.8 E mount lens surprise into its New Year video

Samyang, like most brands these days, has a pretty good presence on social media and they regularly make content specifically for posting on platforms like Instagram and Facebook. Content like this Happy New Year video Samyang posted a few days ago. The video hides a little secret, though. It contains a lens that isn’t actually available to buy just yet.

Looking very carefully at the beginning of the video, and after a little Photoshop work, we can see that there is what appears to be an AF 135/1.8FE lens. The 135/1.8FE is quite obvious to read, although the “AF” bit is a little more obscured due to compression.
