NASA’s Webb Telescope captures rare supernova prelude

NASA recently shared James Webb telescope’s capture of a super-rare supernova prelude. It’s one of the telescope’s first observations, and although it shows the “death” of a star, it helps astronomers learn about new beginnings.

This image doesn’t only show something rarely seen and beautiful to look at. As NASA explains, the cosmic dust forming in turbulent nebulas like this is composed of the heavy-element building blocks of the modern universe, including life on Earth.

These “space fireworks” show remnants of a massive supernova

NASA recently released a stunning Hubble photo of remnants of a massive supernova. While the image seems way more peaceful than real fireworks, this colorful cloud is actually a result of something… well, far less peaceful. What is now a cloud of intricate filaments used to be a star in the Large Magellanic Cloud, a satellite galaxy to the Milky Way.

Hubble captures rare photo of evolving supernova in early universe

NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope brings us a pretty incredible and rare “blast from the past.” In a recent photo, the telescope captured three different moments in a supernova explosion that happened more than 11 billion years ago. In “universe years,” that’s merely childhood, which is certainly incredible. However, Hubble’s snap is special for something else too: shooting a supernova as it happens isn’t exactly an everyday sight.

Hubble Space Telescope has been in space for over 30 years and has treated us with plenty of awe-inspiring images. This time, the telescope has captured quite a firework. John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
