A major change – and learning curve – for me this year has been my switch from Nikon to Sony. I’ve already documented the story of my switch to Sony on the blog, but what I have since discovered is the huge possibilities – or as some of us might call it the “confusion of options” – that comes with owning a Sony Alpha camera.

Last week, I kicked off something I thought would be incredibly fun to do, and that was to showcase a cinematographer and his work every week. I started off with Roger Deakins, and I may have to apologize now- that guy is such a legend that I’m afraid the next few posts I do won’t gain as much interest. But I can say that today’s cinematographer is one of my absolute favorites. His name is Jeff Cronenweth, and you definitely know his array of work.
Blackmagic Announces the URSA: A Digital Film Camera Starting at $6K
They’re calling it the world’s first user-upgradable 4K digital film camera: Blackmagic’s URSA has been announced and it may take you by quite a bit of surprise. I want to get something out of the way first: These are meant for high-end feature films and documentaries, and the two URSA models announced today are going to be shipping in July at prices of $6,000 and $6,500.
