If hooking 5 or even 15 cameras up to each other wasn’t enough Sony just dropped a new addon for the Sony RX0 that lets you control up to 100 of them. Don’t get too excited, though, that addon is the CCB-WD1 wired control box. You’ll need one for each camera, and they’ll cost $699 each, on top of the $699 camera price. So those 100 cameras will cost you around $140K in total.
The new Sony RX0 action camera was announced earlier this year. 4K HDMI output, 1080p at up to 1,000fps, wireless timecode sync for multiple cameras, and a 1″ sensor made it a serious competition to GoPro. Kai Wong got his hands on one of these, and in his latest video, he compares it to the GoPro Hero 6. On paper, Sony RX0 sure looks promising. But can it beat GoPro in real life conditions?
It’s not often a piece of new kit leaves me lost for words, but the new Sony RX0 action camera has left me kind of stuck. It’s as revolutionary to the action camera world as the original GoPro was. And oh boy does it look good. On paper, at least.
Sony appear to be sending action cameras upmarket with the RX0, offering features that GoPro users could only ever really dream of. Clean uncompressed 4K HDMI output, 1080p at up to 1,000fps, and wireless timecode sync for multiple cameras. It also features a 1″ sensor, massively larger than those typically found in action cameras. These are pretty incredible features.
