What it’s like to use a 200-600mm lens for street photography

When you think of street photography, a super-telephoto lens probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. But Evan Ranft thought: why not? He teamed up with Chris House to test out a Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens in the street. While it still wouldn’t be his first choice for street photography, it does have its perks, and Evan shares his impressions and some photos in this interesting video.

Sony announces the 600mm f/4 GM OSS and 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lenses

Well, the lens that was apparently up for sale on Yahoo Auctions 10 days ago has now officially been announced by Sony. Yes, the Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS lens is finally here. As is the Sony FE 600mm f/4 GM OSS. They’re massive monsters of lenses, and they’re shipping in only 2 months.

Somebody’s selling a lens that doesn’t exist on Yahoo Auctions Japan – and they have photos of it!

Well, here’s an interesting one. How do you sell a lens that doesn’t actually exist yet? I don’t know, but somebody’s found a way, as there appears to be a brand new Sony 200-600G OSS f/5.6-6.3 FE lens up for sale on Yahoo Auctions Japan. Despite the fact that this lens isn’t even expected to be announced until next week, there are even photos of it in the listing.

Dave Williams is an accomplished travel photographer, writer, and best-selling author from the UK. He is also a photography educator and published Aurora expert. John Aldred is a photographer with over 20 years of experience in the portrait and commercial worlds. He is based in Scotland and has been an early adopter - and occasional beta tester - of almost every digital imaging technology in that time. As well as his creative visual work, John uses 3D printing, electronics and programming to create his own photography and filmmaking tools and consults for a number of brands across the industry.

Dunja Djudjic is a multi-talented artist based in Novi Sad, Serbia. With 15 years of experience as a photographer, she specializes in capturing the beauty of nature, travel, and fine art. In addition to her photography, Dunja also expresses her creativity through writing, embroidery, and jewelry making.
