Shooting Street Photography without a project is like food shopping when you’re hungry. You might get a few nice treats, but ultimately you get back and find there is nothing to sustain you.

I love the way cities come to life at night with neon lights, the sound of laughter, street lights, reflection, shop windows, it’s a different world which I’ll equip you to not only shoot but shoot well. Before you ask, all of the images here are shot handheld on various Fujifilm cameras, mainly the XT3 with 35mm f1.4 lens which is their 50mm equivalent.
If you’re anything like me, you’ve collected a lot of light stands. And when not in use, they all just get laid down and piled on top of each other, eventually falling over. They take up far too much room, and if you need to set up a bunch around your studio, it often requires multiple trips to get them one or two at a time.
This video from photographer Simon Ellingworth provides a fantastic DIY storage solution for light stands in your studio. It can also hold other lighting accessories such as umbrellas clamps, tripods and monopods, too.
Studio photographers. They’re an odd bunch. And they don’t get much odder than multi award-winning photographer, Simon Ellingworth. Of course, I’m kidding, he’s a lovely guy. But he’s often asked why he has bricks in his studio covered in black gaffer tape. In this short video, he explains why.
One of the primary lessons I teach in portraiture is how to control the viewer’s eye, and how depth of field is one of the key methods to do that. This is normally the preserve of expensive fast lenses, but soon anyone will be able achieve this with some new technology I’ve been trailing on the iPhone 7 plus.
This new IOS 10.1 software, currently in beta and available later this year uses the twin cameras built into the iPhone 7 plus. It basically provides you with a new and super simple ‘portrait’ camera mode which takes two image and uses software to artificially create a creamy depth of field….and it’s great!

When we were asked to produce some creative product shots for a new client, I thought Challenge accepted! The product was an awesome high end cross country trainer with incredible grip on various surfaces and was to be photographer while not been worn.
I wanted to show multiple surfaces, but from a different perspective so decided to create a quick and dirty land cross section to sit the trainer on.
