Ricoh has announced the new WG-7 waterproof camera – but only for Japan

Well, this is both interesting and also a shame, if it turns out to be the case. Ricoh has today announced the rumoured WG-7 waterproof compact camera. It’s capable of shooting for up to 2 hours continuously at a depth of up to 20 metres with impact resistance from drops of up to 2.1m and cold resistance down to -10°C.

But, it looks like it’s only being announced in Japan. At least for now. Pentax Rumors reports that the announcement is only for the Japanese Market. This could be backed up by the fact that it doesn’t appear to be on any of Ricoh’s other websites around the world. At least, not that I’ve been able to find.

Photo’s leak of Ricoh’s upcoming waterproof WG-7 – announcement expected this week

Photos have leaked for a Ricoh WG-7. It’s a waterproof compact camera that will replace the Ricoh WG-6 which was announced in 2019. The leaked photos come via Nokishita, who say that an announcement for the camera is expected on June 17th, with shipping beginning on July 9th.

According to their post on Twitter, the new Ricoh WG-7 will shoot 4K video and features a webcam function for streaming HD video. They say it can also handle being submerged underwater for 2 hours at a depth of up to 20 metres (~65 feet).
