Nanlite has released their new PavoBulb 10C. It’s an RGBWW colour-mixing LED light designed to replace practical bulbs on-set when you need to get a little more control over how they look to camera. With the plethora of dodgy cheap consumer CCFL and LED bulbs on the market these days that people often use in their homes and businesses, these will be a welcome tool in the arsenal of filmmakers.

It is essentially Nanlite’s answer to the Aputure Accent B7C, released in September 2020, but for the Nanlite ecosystem, offering remote control through the NanLink app and a variety of other methods. It offers a CRI of 95, a TLCI of 97, over 36,000 colours with 15 customisable preset modes and a slew of other features.

Godox has launched its new Godox SZ150R LED light. It’s both RGB and bi-colour offering a range from 2800K up to 6500K with high CRI and TLCI ratings of 97 and 96. It has a number of control options, including onboard controls, the RC-R9 remote, a smartphone app as well as DMX control. And, as with most new Godox lights, it comes with a silent mode feature to eliminate fan noise!

And while the fact that this Bowens-mount LED light is both bicolour and RGB is pretty awesome, what’s particularly interesting is that the light on this is zoomable, offering an adjustable beam angle of between 20° and 65°.

Waterproofing (or at least really good weather sealing) seems to have become quite popular with photo and video gear lately, especially when it comes to lights. And particularly small lights that one might occasionally choose to use with their smartphones – given that many new smartphones now are also somewhat waterproof.

Lighting and gimbal accessories manufacturer DigitalFoto has already released one waterproof light tube recently, and now they’ve announced another. Their new Tree Frog RGBWW Pocket LED is an IP67 rated update to their previous pocket-sized RGB LED lights, and offers a couple of other neat extras besides.

If you’ve shot video, or even sometimes if you’ve shot stills, you know what a hassle practical lighting can be. It’s always too bright or too dim to easily balance with the rest of your lights for the ISO you want to shoot at. Or, it’s completely the wrong colour. So, you have to get tricky with white balance, or gel things, or have a bunch of different types of bulbs on-hand to match to other light sources.

Well, no more. Now you just need one type of bulb to match with everything. Aputure has finally launched the Accent B7c, an RGBWW colour-mixing practical LED light that lets you simulate just about any colour or brightness you’ll ever need.

The tiny light that can; an INSSTRO C1 RGB LED review

Light – the most important thing in photography.  Without it, we have nothing but darkness.  Some of us like to capture and bend the natural light to our needs. While others love to craft a scene with artificial lights.

If you love adding in your own light then its a nice time to be a photographer.  Lights are getting smaller, more complex and often include their own power.   Freeing us from wires and bringing more creative freedom.

My second RGB capable LED was the INSSTRO C1, and this is what I’ll talk about today.

Aputure has announced the release of the new Aputure MC RGBWW LED light. It’s the first RGB light to be released by Aputure, first shown off at NAB 2019 earlier this year. It offers full control over hue, saturation and intensity, but it also features white LED lights, too, offering a bicolour range from 3200K to 6500K with a CRI/TLCI of 96+.

I’ve become a big fan of Litra’s super tough LED lights. We even use the LitraPro LED as an on-camera light when we cover shows. So when I heard that they were bringing out a big, powerful RGBWW LED light, I had to see it for myself. So, we stopped by the Litra stand at IBC 2019 to have a look at it in person, and find out more about it.

Litra launches the LitraStudio – A super rugged, waterproof, portable RGBWW LED Light

Building on the massive success of the LitraTorch and LitraPro LED lights, Litra has now gone beyond bicolour to create the LitraStudio – a rugged and waterproof true RGBWW LED light. It’s significantly larger than the previous Litra lights, but it’s still small enough to toss into your bag for easy portability.

With the size increase comes a nice power increase, too, with a 2,400 Lumen constant output, 3,000 in “Overdrive” mode, or 6,000 in “Flash” mode. Oh yes, it flashes, too.
